Vincenc or Vincent immigrated to USA, arriving at Ellis Island on June 24, 1893, with his parents, Jan "John" and Anna Vanis, and a brother Alois Vanis, sailing on board The Dania, which departed Hamburg, Germany. The Vanis ethnicity is Austrian [Bohemian in census]. The 1930 Nebraska census has Henry's middle initial as the letter G, as does his burial information; Henry was listed as a 15 year old farm laborer in that census.
