Reprinted from the People's Banner, David City, NE, 22 Jun 1961. Elizabeth Catherine (Schmit) Puetz 1890-1961 Funeral Services Held June 20 At St. Mary's For Mrs. Nick Puetz Mrs. Nick M. Puetz. 70, died at the David City hospital June 17. Funeral services were conducted at St. Mary's Church Tuesday, June 20. the Rev. Harold Birkel officiated at the Solemn Requiem High Mass and was assisted the Rev. Raymond Hain and the Rev. Charles Kelliher. The sermon was by Msgr. A. J. Lisko. St. Mary's choir provided music. Members of St. Mary's P.C.C.W. and Catholic Daughters attended the service in a body. Relatives attending from away were from Lincoln, Omaha, Albion, Cedar Rapids, Randolph, Osmond, Petersburg, Atkinson, McLean, Blair, Columbus and Lawrence. and Jessup and Sioux City, Ia.. and Morris and Blooming Prairie. Minn. Pallbearers were James, Wm. and Gary Puetz, Jon Hawkins, Gerald Hanus and George Goodhard. Burial was in St. Peter's and St. Mary's Cemetery Bellwood. Elizabeth C. Puetz. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Schmit, was born at Bellwood, Nov. 6, 1890. She was married to Nick M. Puetz at Presentation Church, Bellwood. on Jan. 17, 1911. Seven children were born to this union. They lived in the Bellwood vicinity until five years ago when they moved to David City. Mrs. Puetz was a member of St. Mary's Church, David City. the Catholic Daughters. P.C.C.W. and Seminarian Club. Survivors include her husband; a son, Lawrence, David City; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Beckius, Lincoln, Mrs. Joe F. Clara Meysenburg, David City; and Mrs. Gerald (Rita) Meysenburg, Topeka. Kan., two brothers, Pete and John Schmit. Bellwood; three sisters, Mrs. Ed Michael, Lincoln, Mrs. Leo Janicek, Bellwood and Mrs. Don Decker. Jessup, Iowa; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three daughters, Caroline, Evelyn and Mary Rose; one granddaughter Jeanne Hanus, three brothers and one sister. |
Reprinted from The Banner-Press, David City, NE, June 1986 Lawrence Puetz; 73, Services Conducted Tuesday morning Funeral services for Lawrence N. Puetz of David City were conducted Tuesday morning, June 10, from St. Mary's Catholic Church, David City. Mr. Puetz, 73, died Saturday afternoon, June 7, following a. heart attack. The Mass of Christian Burial was concelebrated by Father Dennis Hunt, Father Patrick O'Byrne of Wahoo Neumann, Father Mike Malloy of Columbus Scotus and Father Bob Roh of Bellwood. Father Roh presented the homily. Jerry Votava was the lector and Dan Hook was commentator. Barb Dehner and Virginia Rerucha were soloists. Mrs. Ray Vanis was the organist. Members of the Knights of Columbus attended in a body. Pallbearers were Clarence Birkel, Jack Morbach, Pat Meysenburg, Wayne Smith, William Juranek and Bob Michael. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Lawrence N. Puetz, the son of Nicholas and Elizabeth (Schmit) Puetz, was born Nov. 26, 1912, at David City. He attended school at Marietta. On Feb. 7, 1929, he was united in marriage to Lillian C. Bruner at St. Francis Catholic Church (Center) David City. Four children were born to this union. He was a Butler County resident all of his life, living near David City from 1912 to 1920 and then moving to rural Bellwood. In 1944 the family moved to a farm near David City where he was living at the time of his death. A retired farmer, he was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Lillian of David City; three sons, Jim and Gary of Columbus and Bill of Norfolk; one daughter, Mrs. Ron (Nancy) Zahourek of LeMars, IA; three sisters, Margaret Beckius of Lincoln, Mrs. Joe (Clara) Meysenburg of David City and Mrs. Jerry (Rita) Meysenburg of Omaha; and 12 grandchildren. His parents and three sisters, Mary Rose Hanus, Caroline and Evelyn, preceded him in death. |
Banner-Press, David City, NE, Sep 1982 Nicholas Mathias Puetz 1886-1982 Funeral services for Nicholas M. Puetz, 96, of David City were held Wednesday morning, Sept.22, from St. Mary's Church with Msgr. A. J. Lisko and Father Robert Hrdlicka of David City, Msgr. Daniel Cooper of Beaver Crossing, and Father Clarence Reisdorff of Seward officiating. Mr. Puetz died Sept.19 at the Butler County Hospital following a short illness. Members of Tihen Council, Knights of Columbus, attended in a body Mrs. Ray Vanis was organist. Song leaders were Mmes. John Dehner and Richard Rerucha. Jerry Votova and Mel Cihal were commentator and lector. Pallbearers were James. Puetz, Gerald Hanus, Gary Puetz Pat Meysenburg, William Puetz, and Larry Hain. Burial was in St. Peter's Presentation Cemetery, Bellwood. Relatives attending the service were from Longmont, Colo., Davenport and LeMars, IA, Cedar Rapids Osmond, Albion, Omaha, Lincoln Seward, Columbus, Gresham, Beaver Crossing and Schuyler. Nicholas M. Puetz, son of Matthias and Margaret (Reisdorff) Puetz, was born March 13, 1886, at Bellwood. He attended Bellwood rural school and Fremont Normal School. On Jan. 17 1911, he was married to Elizabeth C. Schmit at Presentation Parish, Bellwood. Seven children were born to this union. A Butler County resident all of his life, he was a farmer before retiring to David City in 1956. He was member of the Knights of Columbus for 68 years, and a member of St. Mary's Church. He is survived by one son, Lawrence Puetz of David City; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Beckius of Lincoln, Mrs. Joe (Clara) Meysenburg of David City, and Mrs. Gerald (Rita) Meysenburg of Omaha; a sister, Mrs. Augusta Morbach of St. Joseph's Villa; 21 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; three daughters, Evelyn and Caroline Puetz and Mary Rose Hanus; his parents and a grand daughter Jean Hanus; three brothers and four sisters. |
