Hilda (Meysenburg) Pardue 1914-1967

Funeral Services Held In Louisiana For Mrs. Hilda Meysenburg Pardue

Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Meysenburg, 53, of Metairie, La., a former Bellwood resident, were conducted Thursday, Oct. 12 at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Metairie. Mrs. Purdue died Tuesday, Oct. 10.  A brother, Paul Meysenburg of David City and a sister Mrs. Margaret Peters of Bellwood, were among those from a distance attending the services.   Hilda Meysenburg, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Meysenburg. was born July 2, 1914, at Bellwood. She was grad4ated from St. Joseph's Hospital school of Nursing On June 24, 1940, she was married to E. Beckham Purdue. Three children were born to this union.   She has been employed at the U. S. Marine Hospital in Louisiana and recently was appointed an administrator of the Louisiana State Department of Health.  Her parents and three brothers, Leo, Francis and Harold Meysenburg, preceded her in death.  She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Anne Crooks and Mrs. Marion Herbert; one son, John; one brother, Paul Meysenburg of David City; and two sisters, Margaret Peters of Bellwood and Camilla Meysenburg of David City.

Clarence George Peters 1899-1938

Death came to Clarence Peters in Bellwood Monday evening after a four month illness. He had been in an Omaha hospital since the first of March but was brought back to his home two weeks ago.  Clarence George Peters was born in Center township on November 20, 1899, a son of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Peters and died ot his home in Bellwood on Monday, July 18th, 1938. His death was caused from complications.  He married Margaret Meysenburg on April 10, 1921 at Luxemburg church on the Valley. To that union were born nine children. They are Honora, Delores, Phyllis, Paul, Mary Margaret, Donnie and Rita Marie. Two little boys died in infancy.  Besides his wife and children, he leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Peters and one brother, Jack Peters of David City, and his sisters, Mrs. Margaret Vanderzanden of Corneliyus, Oregon, Mrs Frances Freeman of Schuyler, Mrs. Irene Seidik of David City, Mrs. Alice Speice of Columbus, Mrs. Angela Schultz of Omaha, Mrs. Marie Cermak of Bellwood and Mrs. Irma Spatz of Bruno. There are also many other relatives surviving.  Mr. Peters was engaged in farming several years, later going into the elevator in Bellwood, then into the Oil Station there until the time of his sickness.  He was a member of the Bellwood Catholic church and was a Bellwood fireman.  Funeral services are to be held in the St. Peters Catholic church at Bellwood Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock, in charge of Father O'Conner, with burial in the Luxemburg cemetery.  The pallbearers are Fred Eichmeir of Ulysses, Jack Hiller, Nick Stemper, Ben Homan, Rudolph Korger and Otto Selzer.

Funeral Services Held Thursday, July 31, For John Paul Peters, 12

Funeral services for John Paul Peters son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Peters of David City, were conducted at St Mary's Church, Thursday, July 31. He died Monday, July 28, following a tractor accident on his grandparents ranch north of Burwell.  Rt. Rev. A. J. Lisko officiated at the service. The commentator, lector and servers for the funeral mass were classmates from St. Mary's School.  Michelle Hotovy was organist. Pallbearers were Don Peters, Tom McCawley, Gordon Zeller, Bob Litjen, Otto Kriz and Frank DeWispelare.   Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.  Classmates from St. Mary's School and members of the pee wee baseball team attended the services in a body.  Relatives attending from out of town were from Burwell, Omaha, North Platte, Ogallala, Hastings, Ord, St. Paul, Tekamah, Columbus, Lincoln, and Bellwood, and Rawlins, Wyo.  John Paul Peters, the son of Paul and Shirley Peters, born at David City, July 26, 1957. He would have entered the seventh grade at St. Mary's School this fall. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and had been a mass server for the past year.  Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Bob, 13 and Michael, 2; three sister's, Jean; 10, Ann, 9, and Mary Kay: 5; and his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Ackles of Burwell and Mrs. Margaret Peters of Bellwood.

Margaret Mary (Meysenburg) Peters 1898-1976

Services Held At Bellwood For Margaret Peters

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Mary Peters, 77, a Bellwood retired postmistress, were conducted Tuesday morning, Dec.30, from St. Peter's Church, Bellwood. Mrs. Peters died Sunday, Dec.28, at the Butler County Hospital following a two week illness due to heart failure.  The Requiem Mass was offered by Father Robert Roh, concelebrated with Msgr.  A. J. Lisko and Fathers Paul Rutten, John Rasmussen and, G. C. Messman.   Mass servers were Mark Zeller, John McCawley, Jeff Lopez and Tim Lopez.  Mike McCawley was commentator. Mrs. Loran Schmit, vocalist, was accompanied by Mrs. Ruth Cockson, organist. Catholic Daughters attended in a body.  Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased, Tom McCawley, Bob Peters, Terry Zeller, Chris Lopez, Steve McCawley and Dan McCawley. Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery.  Out of town relatives and friends attending the services were from Omaha, Lincoln, Columbus, David City, Genoa, Albion, Burwell, and Central City, and Casper, Wyo., Denver, Colo., St. Paul, Minn., Rock Island, Ill., and Lee's Summit, Mo.  Margaret Mary, the daughter of John J. and Christina Phillips Meysenburg, was born Nov.14, 1898, at David City. She attended school at Marietta.  On April 19,1921, she was united in marriage to Clarence G. Peters at Presentation Church, Bellwood. Nine children were born to this union.  She resided in the Bellwood vicinity all her lifetime. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America and the American Legion Auxiliary, She is survivied by two sons, Paul J. Peters of David City and Don Peters of Bellwood; four daughters, Dolores McCawley and Mary M. Zeller of Bellwood, Phyllis Douglass of Casper, Wyo. and Rita Lopez of Denver, Colo.; one brother, Paul J. Meysenburg of David City; 28 grandchidren and three great-gandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sons, one daughter, a grandson, three brothers, two sisters, and a brother in infancy.

Aloysius Peter Phillips 1899-1975

Services In Pine Bluffs, Wyo. For A. P. Phillips

Funeral services for Al P. Phillips, 75, of Pine Bluffs, Laramie County, Wyo., were conducted Tuesday, Sept. 2, at St. Paul's, Catholic Church with Father Phillip Colibraro officiating. Mr. Phillips died Friday, Aug. 29 in DePaul Hospital in Cheyenne, Wyo.   Pallbearers were Robert Wilhelm, Robert Johnson, Don Shandera, Marvin Schacher, Donald Janicek and Jerome Schinzel. Honorary pallbearers were Ed Prosser, James Rainey, Jake Thimesch, Bernard Moritiz, Ben Prouty and Clarence Gieber.  Burial was in the Pine Bluffs Cemetery.  Al P. Phillips was born Dec.2, 1899, in Nebraska. On Feb.15, 1926, he was united in marriage to Genevieve N. Demuth at Bellwood.  He lived at Bellwood before moving 50 years ago to Laramie County where he was engaged in farming. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Pine Bluffs and the Knights of Columbus, Tihen Council 1717 in David City.  He is survived by his wife, Genevieve of Pine Bluffs; a daughter, Zita Olsen of San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Agnes Schmit of Santa Ana, Calif.; two brothers, Wilfred and Leonard Phillips, both of David City; and two grandchildren, Roger and Robert Olsen of San Jose, Calif.  He was preceded in death by a brother, George Phillips, and a granddaughter, Anita Olsen, who died Aug.12, 1973.   Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Olsen, Roger and Robert of San Jose, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Staufer, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Phillips and daughters, Mrs. Bill Ross and Mrs. Dave Peters of Denver, Cob. From Nebraska, they included Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Phillips, Wilfred Phillips and Mr. and Mrs. John Birkel of David City, Mr. and Mrs. George Demuth of Staplehurst and Mr. and Mrs.  Albert. Janicek, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lukassen, Mrs. John Schadegg, Maude Donaghue, Minnie McDowell and Mrs. Helen Cortney all of Kimball.

Mrs. Anna G. Phillips Services Conducted Friday, June 23

Mrs. Anna G. Phillips, 85, died at the David City Hospital June 21 after an illness of five months. Funeral services were conducted at Presentation Church June 23. Officiating were Msgr. T Mercier, Msgr. Daniel Cooper and Father John Glaves. Music was provided by the church choir. Members of the Altar Society attended the services in a body.  Nephews serving as pallbearers were Paul Meysenburg, Bernard Hilger, Robert Kreizinger, Everett Supancheck, Harold Phillips and Joe B. Meysenburg.  Burial was in Presentation Cemetery.  Mrs. Phillips, daughter of Peter N. and Barbara Dehner Meysenburg, was born July 25, 1875, at Bellwood.  On January 25, 1899 she was married to Nicholas P. Phillips at Presentation Church. Five children were born to them.   Mrs. Phillips spent her entire life in the vicinity of Presentation parish.   She was a member of the Altar Society and P.C.C.W.  She is survived by her children, Al and George Phillips of Pine Bluffs, Wyo., Mrs. Agnes Schmit, at home, and Wilfred and Leonard Phillips, David City; one brother, H. J. Meysenburg, David City; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Remakel, and Mrs. L. R. Kreizinger, David City; and 12 grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband on April 4, 1951.   Relatives attending the services from away were from Pine Bluffs, Wyo., Albion, Omaha, Kearney, Riverdale, and Platte Center and Milwaukee, Wis.

Services Held For Elizabeth Phillips Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth M. Phillips, 76, of David City were conducted Monday morning, Jan. 30, from St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mrs. Phillips died Friday, Jan. 27, at Seward Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.  Mass was concelebrated by Fathers Rudy Oborny, Clarence Reisdorff and Adrian Herbek. Members of the St. Mary's PCCW and Catholic Daughters attended in a body.  Pallbearers were Roger Spahr, Jim Spahr, Robert Hoffbauer, Rick Hoffbauer, Mike Stuchlik and Bill Phillips. Burial was in St Francis (Center) Cemetery.  The daughter of Theodore and Johanna Theewen, Elizabeth M. Phillips, was born Oct. 31, 1901, at David City. She attended country school.  On Oct. 14, 1919. She was united in marriage to Henry G. Phillips at St. Francis Church(Center). Eight children were born to this union.  She spent most of her married life on a farm neat Center, then retired into David City. The last four years were spent in the Bethesda Nursing home in Seward.  A homemaker, she was a member of the Catholic Church, the St. Mary's PCCW and the Catholic Daughters.  She is survived by three sons, Sylvester (Bud) of Columbus and Harold and Eugene Phillips of David City, three daughters, Mrs. Earl (Annarose) McCoy of Eugene, Ore., Mrs. Leo (Lorraine) Hoffbauer of David City and Mrs. Lawrence (Betty) Stuchlik of Lincoln, one brother, William Theewen of Lincoln, 23 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry, son, Lester and daughter, Bernice.

Eugene Louis Phillips 1928-1988

Services for Eugene (Gene) Louis Phillips of David City were conducted Tuesday morning, Aug. 23, from St. Francis Church, David City. Mr. Phillips, 59, died Friday, Aug. 19, a the Butler County Hospital following congestive heart failure.  The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Father Adrian Herbek. Mrs. Max Krondak was the organist Members of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion and VFW Posts attended in a body.   Pallbearers were Jerold Danaher, Nick Hotovy, Ronald Hotovy, William Aerts, Richard Bruner and LaVerne Kozisek. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Stuchlik, Jim Spahr, Roger Spahr, Daniel Juranek, Robert Hoffbauer, Charles Phillips, William Phillips and Scott Juranek. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery, David City. Graveside military honors were conferred by members of V.F.W.  Post No. 5814 and American Legion Post No.125.   Gene Phillips, the son of Henry G. and Elizabeth Theewen Phillips, was born August 25, 1928, at David City.  He attended school in Butler County District No.18 and David City Public School.  On May 11, 1954, he was united in marriage at David City to Marie Jean Juranek. Two children were born to this union.  He lived his lifetime near David City. For the last five years he had been traveling much of the time and spending the winter months in Florida.  A retired farmer, he was a member of St. Francis Church, David City, a member of the VFW, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a veteran of the Korean War.  He is survived by his wife, Jeanie; a son and daughter-in-law, Lou and Nora Phillips of Yampa, Colo.; a son-in-law and daughter, Darin and Linda Honn of Hillsboro, Ore.; three sisters, Mrs. Earl (Annarose) McCoy of Eugene, Ore., Mrs. Leo (Lorraine) Hoffbauer of David City and Mrs. Lawrence (Betty) Stuchlik of Lincoln; and a granddaughter, Amanda Phillips of Yampa, Cob.  His parents, three brothers, Sylvester, Harold and Lester, and one sister, Bernice Spahr, preceded him in death.

David City Farmer Henry G. Phillips, 71, Dies Thursday, Feb. 21.

Henry G. Phillips, 71, a farmer living near David City, died at St Elizabeth's Hospital Thursday, Feb. 21.  Funeral services were conducted at St. Francis' church, Center, with the Rev. Conrad J. Marrama officiating.  Music was provided by St. Francis choir, accompanied by Mrs. Max Kondak.  Relatives attended from Lincoln, Weston, Cedar Rapids, Seward, Columbus, Ulysses Kearney Bellwood, Petersburg, Garrison and Beaver Crossing and Sioux City, Iowa and Eugene, Oregon.  Pallbearers were Milo Kasper, Gerald Danaher, Chas. Helgoth, Harold Hermsen, Frank Brabec, Henry Vandenberg. Burial was at St. Francis' cemetery.  Mr. Phillips, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Phillips, was born Sept 28, 1891 at Bellwood.  On October 14, 1919, he was married to Elizabeth M. Theewen at St Francis Church. They resided on the same farm for 43 years. Eight children were born to the couple.  Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; his children. Mrs. Earl (Annarose) McCoy of Eugene; Ore., Mrs. Elmer (Bernice) Spahr of Seward, Sylvester Phillips of Columbus. and Mrs. Leo (Lorraine) Hoffbauer, Eugene Phillips and Harold Phillips of David City and Mr. Larry (Betty) Stuchlik of Lincoln; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Supencheck of David City; Mrs. Ann Horton of Sioux City, Iowa, and Sr. M. Solona of Campbellsport, Wis., and 14 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Lester, three brothers John, Nick and Bill Phillips; and two sisters; Mrs. Christine Meysenburg and Mrs. Catherine Hilger.

Harold John Phillips 1930-1984

Services for Harold John Phillips, 54, were conducted Wed. morning, July 25. Mr. Phillips died Sunday afternoon, July 22, at his home southeast of David City following a heart attack.   Father Dennis Hunt celebrated the Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Church, David City. Father Robert Roh delivered the homily. Music was furnished by Mrs. Alice Krondak. Members of the Knights of Columbus attended in a body.  Pallbearers were Eugene Zegers, Norman Kaspar, William Marlin Leu, Fred Vandenberg and Nick Hotovy. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery.  Harold J. Phillips, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Theewen Phillips, was born July 21, 1930, at David City. On Oct. 5, 1960, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Timoney at Ulysses. Nine children were born to this union.  All his life was spent in the David City area where he was engaged in farming.  He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the V.F.W.  He was a board member of Center Township, served on the board of directors for Northside 66, Inc., was past president of St. Francis Church board, past school hoard member of Dist. No.23, and served as parish representative for Aquinas Home School Association and the Booster Club.  He served in the Army in Germany during World War II.  He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his children, William of Seward, Carol Sample of Grand Island, Bonnie Rathje of Rising City and Beth, Charles, Patrick, Jeffrey, Tracy and Lee, all at home, two brothers, Sylvester (Bud) of Columbus and Eugene Phillips of David City; three sisters, Annarose McCoy of Eugene, Ore., Lorraine Hoffbauer of David City and Betty Stuchlik of Lincoln; and four grandchildren, Anna Phillips, Jessica and Jason Sample and Ashley Rathje.  His parents, a brother, Lester, and a sister, Bernice, preceded him in death.

Services Held Monday For John W. Phillips(1875-1944)

John W. Phillips was born in LaMotte, Ia. on May 18, 1875 and passed away at the home of his sister, Mrs. P. A. Supancheck in David City. He had been in poor health for many years.  He was a son of Dena Markus and Peter Phillips and came with his parents to Butler county when eight years old. Mr. Phillips was a farmer, making his home on the valley 10 miles north of David City until last March when he came to David City to live with his sister and family.  The near relatives surviving are Nick and Henry Phillips, Mrs. Mary Supancheck, Mrs. J. J. Meysenburg of David City, Sr. Solana O. S. F. of Campbellsport, Wis., Mrs. Emerson Horton of Sioux City, Ia. and William Phillips of Bellevue, Ia.  Father D. E. Cooper conducted funeral services at St. Mary's Catholic church on the valley at 9 a. m., Monday, July 24. The burial was in the valley St. Mary's cemetery. The pallbearers were Leo and Paul Meysenburg, Everett Supancheck, Bernard Hilger, Will Phillips and Eugene Phillips, all nephews of the deceased.  William Phillips of Bellevue, Ia. was among the relatives attending the funeral.

Leonard John Phillips 1912-1995

Services for Leonard John Phillips were conducted Monday morning, June 12, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Mansfield, Mo. with Rev. Paul McLaughlin officiating. Burial was in the Marshfield Cemetery. Mr. Phillips, 82, formerly of David City died Thursday, June 8 at the Marshfield Care Center.  A retired farmer, he was a Veteran of World War II and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic church.  He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and John Bullard of Niangua. Mo. and Margaret and Randy Heimer of Lincoln, NE, a son. Terry Phillips of Yutan, NE; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Leon and Patty of David City, NE and Ed and Jeri Phillips of Lincoln; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandson.  His wife, Annora, preceded him in death.

Mary Genevieve (Demuth) Phillips 1903-1983

Mary Genevieve Phillips, 79, died Tuesday, April 19, 1983 at Depaul Hospital in Cheyenne.  Born in Bellwood, Nebr., in 1903, she had lived in Laramie County since February 1926.  She married Al P. Phillips in 1926 in Bellwood, Nebr. He preceded her in death in 1975.  She was affiliated with the Catholic Church.  Survivors include her daughter, Zita Olsen, San Jose, Calif.; a brother, Nicholas Demuth of Cedar Rapid, Nebr.; half-brothers, Mr. and Mrs. George Demuth, Stapelhurst Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Clement Demuth, Hemet, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Francis Demuth, Phoenix, Ariz.; and two grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Olsen, Fremont, Calif., and Robert Olsen, Chico. Calif.   Two brothers and one granddaughter preceded her in death.  Scripture and Rosary Service was Thursday night at St, Paul's Catholic Church in Pine Bluffs.  Mass of the Christian Burial was Friday, 1:00pm, at St Paul's Catholic Church, Father Patrick Trujillo officiated Burial was in the Pine Bluffs Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Don Shandera, Marvin Schacher, Don Janicek, Bob Wilhelm, Cliff Haukap and Merlin Cooney.   Honorary pallbearers were Ed Prosser, Ben Prouty, Joe Morita, Clarence Gieber, Jake Thimesch, Bernard Moritz, Mike Sanders and Dennis Talich.

Nicholas Peter Phillips, 72, a successful and highly respected farmer of the Luxemburg community, died at his home Wednesday evening, April 4, at l1.30 p. m He suffered a heart attack four days previous and had recurring seizures in those four days.  Born at Lamotte, Iowa, June 21, 1878. he was the son of Peter and Dena Markus Phllips. His parents came to Luxemburg when he was four years of age. This had been his home ever since.   He was married to Anna Meysenburg, Jan. 25, 1899, the wedding taking place in Presentation church. His death ended a marriage of over 52 years.  Mrs. Phillips survives him, as do four sons, Al, George, and Leonard of Pine Bluffs, Wyo., and Wilfrid at home and one daughter, Mrs. Agnes Schmit of David City. He leaves also 10 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two brothers, William P. of Bellevue, Iowa, and Henry Phillips, of David City I and Three sisters, Mrs. Pete Supancheck of David City, Sister Solana, of Campbell's Point, Wis., and Mrs. Emerson Horton of Sioux City, Iowa.   The Rev. D. E. Cooper had charge of the funeral service held in Presentation church Saturday rnorning. The church choir sang and six nephews Bernard Hilger, Robert Kreizinger, Tom Meysenburg, Joe Meysenburg, Eugene Phillips and Everett Supancheck. Burial was in the valley cemetery.  Mr. Phillips was a member of Presentation church and Tihen Council, Knights of Columbus.  The following relatives came from away to attend the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Al Phillips. Mrs. Leonard Phillips and Mr. and Mrs. Pat Poelma, of Pine Bluffs, Wyo, Mrs. Horton, of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. William Markus, John Markus and Mrs. Mary Benfeldt of Kearney; Matt and John Homan of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Francis Meysenburg of Colby. Sylvester Phillips 1923-1986

A military service for Sylvester Phillips, 62, of Columbus, was held Tuesday, Oct. 7, from St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with Rev. Floyd Wessling officiating. Mr. Phillips died Oct. 4 at Columbus Community Hospital.  Pallbearers were Roger Spahr, Jim Spahr, Bob Hoffbauer, Bill Phillips, Mike Stuchlik, and Rick Hoffbauer. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Aerts, Jerold Danaher; Steve Melosich, Mike Peery, Bill Campbell and Frank Aerts.  Burial was in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Columbus.  Sylvester, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Phillips, was born Dec, 29, 1923, at David City. After graduating from David City High School, he farmed until he entered the United States Navy, where he served in the South Pacific during World War II. He returned to farming after his discharge.  On July 12,1958, he was married Genevieve Sack at St. Mary's Cathedral in Lincoln. 1958 he began working for Loup Public Power District and moved to Columbus in 1959. He worked as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 1979 due to ill health.  He was a member of American Legion Hartman Post 84, VFW No. 3704, Disabled American Veterans, and St. Isidore Church.  Surviving are his wife, Genevieve, Columbus; one brother, Eugene Phillips of Florida; three sisters, Annarose McCoy of Eugene, Ore., Mrs. Leo (Lorraine) Hoffbauer of David City, and Mrs. Larry (Betty) Stuchlik of Lincoln; nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Verndine (Markus) Phillips 1853-1922

It is with sadness that we must speak of the death of as dear a mother as Mrs. Dena Phillips who passed away at her home in David City after a two month illness. Her death was a result of a paralytic stroke and she left this life Monday evening at seven o'clock. The deceased was born on May 7, 1853, at Tete Des Mort, Iowa. On February 11, 1874 she was married to Mr. Peter Phillips at her home town. Ten children were born to this union, one dying in infancy. Those surviving are Mrs. J. J. Meysenburg, Mrs. P. J. Supencheck, Mrs. Albert Hilger, Miss Anna Phillips, John, Nick and Henry Phillips of David City, Sister M. Solana of Milwaukee, and William Phillips of Bellvue, Iowa. Beside her children is survived by four brothers, Herman Markus of David City, Wm. Markus of Maquoteta, Iowa, and Henry Markus of Davenport, Iowa, and Henry Markus of Chicago and one sister Mrs. Elizabeth Kosse of Red Cloud, Nebraska.  Thirty-eight years ago Mr. and Mrs. Phillips and family moved to Butler County, locating on the valley near David City. Mr. Phillips died at his home fifteen years ago. Mrs. Phillips continued her residence here until two years ago when she and her son John moved to David City.  Funeral services were held in St. Mary's Catholic Church of David City of which she was a faithful member. Fr Sproll conducted the funeral services.  Six of her grandsons were the pallbearers. They were Leo, Francis and Paul Meysenburg, Aloysius and George Phillips and Everett Supancheck.   The remains were laid to rest in the Luxemburg cemetery on the Valley.  A brother, William Markus and wife of Maquoketa, Iowa, were present at the funeral.

Wilfrid William Phillips 1910-1980

Funeral services for Wilfrid William Phillips, 69, a retired farmer of David City, were conducted Tuesday morning, March 11, from St. Mary's Catholic Church. Phillips died at his home Friday, March 7, following a heart seizure.  Father Robert C. Hrdlicka officiated at the services. Mrs. Ray Vanis was the organist Pallbearers were Don Meysenburg, Jerome Meysenburg, Eugene Phillips, Harold Phillips and Everett Supancheck. Burial was in St. Mary's-St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery Bellwood.  Friends and relatives attending the services were from California, Wyoming, and Missouri, Omaha, Lincoln, Yutan and Bellwood.  The son of Nicholas and Anna Phillips, Wilfrid W. Phillips, was born May 25, 1910. He attended Marietta High School. He was a member of the Catholic church. Survivors include a brother, Leonard Phillips of David City, a sister, Agnes Schmit of Santa Ana, Calif., six nephews and six nieces.  His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.

John Philip Pleskac (d. 28 Feb 2007, age 83)
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007, in Pegg Paxson & Springer Funeral Home for John Philip Pleskac, who died Feb. 28 of congestive heart failure at age 83.  Mr. Pleskac was born Feb. 3, 1924, in Ulysses, Neb. During World War II, he served in the Navy Seabees in Europe. He moved in 1945 to Beaverton, Oregon and was a plumber for Widmer Plumbing in Portland for 32 years. In 1962, he married Phyllis B. Bales; she died in 1994.

PLESKAC, John Philip 1924-2007
He was loved by so many.  John Philip Pleskac died peacefully in his sleep on Feb. 28, 2007,  shortly after his birthday.  He was born in Nebraska on Feb. 3, 1924. He moved to Oregon immediately  after serving with distinction as a Seabee during World War II.  John was preceded in death by his beloved wife Phyllis in 1994. He is  survived by son, David Pleskac; daughter, Dawn Morris; son, Rick Pleskac;  stepchildren, Norman Garrison and Margo Hutchison; numerous loving  grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  John lived to make flowers bloom and children smile. He loved and  appreciated his family. He was a master plumber who enjoyed hunting and  fishing, while teaching an appreciation for the environment.  He will be missed by so many.  Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, March. 10 in Pegg, Paxson &  Springer Mortuary in Beaverton with a reception to follow.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to Alzheimer's Association of  Portland, 1311 N.W. 21st Ave., Portland, OR 97209, are suggested.
