Oscar Samuelson returned to Omaha after spending Christmas with his parents.

A.F. Swanson, the Bertha blacksmith disposed of his property to Scott Miner, who will continue at the old anvil.
Miss Leontine Johnson and Adolph Johnson left for Cortland, Kan. to spend several weeks with a sister there.
Miss Nora Harker, who has been the guest of Mrs. C.J. Swanson, returned to her home in Mitchell, S.D. last Tue.
Mrs. Chas. Anderson, of Wausa, came up from Omaha, and stopped off to visit at the home of Mrs. Abraham Anderson.
John Anderson and Albin Swanson left for Randolph and Wausa to look over the country with prospects to invest in land.
Mis Alma Johnson who has been the guest of her relatives, the Miss Samuelsons, left for her home at Lindsborg, Kans., Wed. A number of Miss Johnson's friends were invited to the Samuelson home, the Mon. eve. before her departure and time was spent in merry-making, which added to other incidents will help her remember her Oakland friends.

Peter Palmer yesterday sold his residence property in the south part of town to Alfred Gustafson for $1900.
Miss Ida Johnson returned to Omaha after spending a time in this city with her mother, Mrs. Ingeborg Johnson.
Carl Anderson, of the Wausa Gazette was a guest at the Lindahl reception.
Esther and Emma Anderson left for Concord, Wausa and other points to spend a few weeks visit with frienda dn relatives.
Albert Bengston and Amos Anderson returned from Wausa. The latter had been away several weeks time at Minn. points and Knox Co. Neb.

Hans Johnson of Swaburg took cattle to Hooper. A fine looking drove of beeves. Their hair appeared very frosty, from their nostrils went up a cloud and they made the snow fly.

Oscar H. Anderson received notice from the superintendent of the railway mail service of the sixth division that he has been assigned to weigh the mails at Pocatello, Ida., and U.P. transfer, but Mr. Anderson having other appointments to meet, was compelled to decline the position.

P.G. Anderson, who has been visiting in Omaha for some time, arrived home last wed.
E.M. Anderson had business matters to attend to at Dixon, where he was formerly located, and spent a few days there the 1st of the week.
Mrs. August Johnson, of Wusa, came down to visit at the parental home, John Bloomgren. She returned to Wausa last Monday. (no word between home, and John.)
Adolph Johnson and Miss Leontine Johnson came home last Friday, after an extended visit with friends and relatives in Kackley, Rep. and other points in the sunny Kansas.
P. Alfred Anderson of southern Custer Co., this state, was visiting his brothers-in-law, Alfred Walberg and C.H. Anderson, last week and this. Mr. Anderson does not make these eastern Neb. trips very often.

Swanson, John A.died Feb. 27, 1902. b.Jun.24,1837 Borgholt Parish, Elfsborg lan, Westergotland, Swe. Immigrated to America in 1865, moving to Burt Co. shortly afterwards. Farming for a few years, moved to Oakland t be in mercantile bus. Retired from same due to poor health. Left wife,6 kids William, Nannie, Emma, George, Rueben, Louis, all living in Oakland. Lots of info.
Johnson, Carl Edward of Bertha d. Feb. 26 1902 of asthma, age 60yr. Immigrated t US from Ostergotland, Swe, in lat 1860's, stopping first in Dodge Co., worked at Logan mills. Homesteaded 80 acres in Logan Twp., married and made that place his home until about 10 yrs. ago, when he moved to his late home in Bell Creek Twp., Burt Co. Successful mgr of business affairs, owner of abt 750 acres. Leaves wife, seven children. Mrs. Ida D. Swanson is dau. of Mrs. Carolina (Nygren) & Oscar Samson, who d. Feb 24, 1902. See page 1, col 5. Siblings are Mrs. Evaline M. Westerberg, Mrs. Lydia M. Johnson, Arthur Samson, Myrtle (died at age 3 in 1895). Lots of Carolina's info, medical history, names, etc.
Alf. Gustafson mae a bus. trip to Wausa in relation to the harness business he has arranged to buy out.
Anderson Bros. sold through 1st National Bank, 40 acres of Logan valley meadow land to Victor Colson for $2,000.
Andrew Anderson and Andrew Meyer of Lyons, are in north central Minn. and Wisconsin visiting relatives.

J.M. Johnson, of Wakefield was a caller on Oakland friends between trains.
P.M. Johnson and Miss Rosa Bloomgren went down to Omaha to visit friends and relatives.
W.E. Pratt of Tekamah came up to do some surveying on the P.W. Swanson farm.
C.O. Jonas and Mrs. Araham Anderson were south-bound passengers, Wed. morn. , returning in the evening.
Mrs. B.T. Blaney, mother of Mrs. O.H. Anderson, and Miss Mollie Kidd, of Lincoln, came up Tue. to visit with Mrs. Anderson.
Mrs. Gilbert Swanson, living 4 mi. W of the city, is reported quite ill with pneumonia, and a nurse was called from Omaha to care for her.
Dr. Engstedt reports three cases of scarlet fever in the family of Chas. Anderson, south of town. Some four or five families are reported afflicted with the sme disease in town.
C.J. Swanson went to Chicago this week to purchase spring goods.
Axel Olander came up from Omaha last Friday to attend the funeral of John A. Swanson.

Carl John Lindell d. yesterday morn. at home of dau. Mrs. Marie E. Wallin. age 73y, 28d. at Oakland. Born in Korsberga parish of Jonkopings laz, Sweden, Feb. 8, 1829, coming to Henry Co., Ill., in 1857, and in 1880 he came west and settled on a farm, near Oakland. Some years ago he moved into town on account of his poor health, and of late he has been very feeble, mostly confined to the bed. He leaves an aged wife and four children, Mrs. Marie E. Wallin, Mrs. Christina Tunberg, both of this place, John Lindell, of Omaha, and Mrs. Hannah Corey, of Omaha, to mourn over his demise. Mr. Lindell was a man of quiet disposition and good habits. The obsequis will be conducted from the Swedish Lutheran church, next Sun. afternoon.
Oscar H. Anderson left last Tuesday for Council Bluffs, where he will go on the train as a mail weigher. His run will be between Council Bluffs and Pocatello, Idaho, and will have a run of about 1500 miles. We wish Mr. Anderson success in his new business, and feel like congratulating Uncle Sam in securing so efficient and capable a young man as Mr. Anderson.

Frank Rosen of Magnet and A.P. Swanson of Bloomfield, were over Sunday visitors at the home of our genial merchant, John Rosen.
Miss Lizzie Johnson who has been visiting at the home of John Bloomgren, on the west side, returned to her home at Stanton.
Gust Johnson will do carpenter work for erecting a fine and commodious dwelling in the northern part of the city for Aug. Olson.

P.J. Gustafson of West Side, Oakland, d. Mar 10. at age 58y,11m,26d. b. Dec. 14, 1843, in Vimmerby parish, Kalmar lan, Swe. Came to America and Oakland in 1868 whre he took a homestead, living there until his death. Married twice, first time to Hedwig Olander in 1876, to which wre born six children of which three are living. First wife died in 1886 and in 1887, he was married to Josephina Lennart, to whom has been born five children of which all are living. His health has been failing since 1894. Funeral occurred Tue. in Oakland. Left wife, 8 children, aged mother.
Anna Sofia (Hultquist) Swanson d. of West Side, Oakland, d. Mar 9, 1902. Born in Hjortheds parish, Kalmar lan, Sweden, came to this country in company with her father and mother in 1883, was married to Gilbert Swanson, Jan. 6, 1897. Two children were born, the youngest only a few days old. Mrs. Swanson was but twenty-five years old at her death. Left husband, two small children, parents, four brothers and a sister to mourn over her early demise. Funeral held last Tue from Swedish M.E. church on West Side. Buried there too. Died from pneumonia (pg8,col3)

B.C. Harding married Rosa Peterson Wed. Mar. 12, 1902 6 mi. SW of Oakland at bride's parents' home. Bride wore turquois blue crepon and the groom in conventional black. House was decorated with smilac and carnations. Miss Myrthel Dixon, of Blair, acted as bridesmaid and Fred harding, brother of the groom, as best man. At the strins of piano the bride and groom marched into the parlor, where Rev. McNeil of the M.E. church pronounced the ceremony that made them man and wife. After the ceremnony was over the guests were seated to a sumptious dinner. Only the closest relatives were invited. The guests many fine and valuable presents, to the newly wedded couple. Mr. and Mrs. Harding will make their home here in Oakland, where Mr. Harding is manager ofr the Nebraska Telephone Co.

C.J. Lindberg left for Omaha to meet his wife who has been away for some time on a visit, also to attend the wedding of our congenial townsman, John A. Anderson.
Miss Emma Anderson, who has been visiting, at Wausa the past two months, returned hom.

Mrs. A.F. Anderson of West Side (Oakland?), died Sun. Apr. 13, at age of 80 yrs.Leaves husband, 6 kids. Born in Lundberga parish, Kalmar lan, Sweden, Dec. 23, 1822. Married A.F. Anderson in 1852, came to America in 1868. Settled at Andover, Ill., and from there they moved to Iowa. In 1880, they came west and settled on a farm west of Oakland. Rev. Wickman officiating. Two of children, living here are Mrs. Edward Ericson and Mrs. C.A. Johnson.

Rev. Oscar L. Swanson and wife, missionaries from Assam, Asia, are guests of relatives and friends in this vicinity, Mrs. Swanson being a sister of A.T. Wennberg, ner town. They went out as missionaries from Moline,Ill., about 9 years ago and are now in America taking the regular vacation allowed missionary workers after nine years' service in the field.

Lars Olson of Gothenburg, d. Thu. Jul 31, 1902. b. 1827 in Solleron parish, Dalarne, Swe. Came to America in 1862, came to Oakland w/family in 1865, after close of civil war. Had homestead farm mile south of Oakland, being a pioneer of this section.. Lived here until 1898, moving to live with son-in-law, Andrew Johnson at Gothenburg. Wife died about 8 yrs. ago and is buried in Oakland. Lars leaves 3 kids, 2 dau, 1 son. Carrie Johnson and Mary Oberg, living in Dawson County, sone Oliver, lives in Oakland. Confined to his bed for nearly quarter centruy with rheumatism.

A pleasing evening, a beautiful lawn lighted by 36 chinese lanterns, good attendance, with Oakland band's music and the ability of the young ladies who supervised the event, as entertainers-all served to maek the social, held Tue.eve. at the home of the Misses Alma and Hulda Samuelson, a gratifying success. Nearly 200 people must have been prsent, and $19.00 was cleared for the organ fund of the Lutheran church, from the sale of ice cream and cake.
