In July had head on collision with another motor, dark night, no lights, sent to hospital. Was in St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne offensives.

Was put in charge of all athletic sports for entertainment. Was a partner of Joe Stecker in exhibition bouts. Assigned to U. S. S. Northern Pacific, the fastest transport bringing soldiers home from France.
