ANAXIMANDER WARNER

Abridged: Anaximander WARNER was born on March 30, 1846 in Gallia County, Ohio and died at Oakdale, Nebraska on October 10, 1926. He grew to manhood in his native State on a farm but secured more than a common school education, being a student at the University of Ohio. At the age of eighteen he offered the supreme sacrifice and enlisted in the Union Army and served until the close of the war. He came to Nebraska in the fall of 1869 and entered a homestead about four and one-half miles northwest of Tilden. Having done this he returned to eastern Nebraska for employment. He secured a situation as teacher in the school at Blair. He returned to his homestead the next year and remained there until 1875. He sold this place and purchased another, remaining there until 1903 when he moved to his home in Oakdale where he resided until death. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Lovell of Tilden, and Claude of Oakdale, five daughters, Mrs Austin MALZACHER, Mrs A. D. CLINGMAN, Mrs Peter GIBSON, Mrs Edward WILLIAMS, and Mrs Albert NEUENSWANDER, and a brother, Mr J. T. WARNER. Funeral services were held at the house Monday afternoon and interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

CATHERINE HENRIETTA BETTINGER WARNER

Abridged: Catherine Henrietta BETTINGER was born in Richland, New York, July 14, 1847. Passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs Tracy EVANS in Oakdale, Nebraska September 4, 1930. She was married in Belleville, NY in 1868 to Adelbert Andrew WARNER. To this union, two children were born, Mary Ann WARNER MCMILLIAN who passed away July 1901 and Lillian B WARNER EVANS of Oakdale who survives her mother. Mrs WARNER moved to Nebraska in 1905. In addition to her daughter, she leaves six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers. The funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal Church Friday afternoon, September 5. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery.

FRANCES AMERICA PAYNE WARNER

Abridged: Frances America PAYNE was born September 15, 1857 at Caledonia, New York and departed life July 10, 1934 at Orchard, Nebraska. She grew to womanhood at Caledonia, graduating from the State normal school at Genesco, New York. In 1876 she came to Oakdale and taught school two years, at which place she was the first teacher in Antelope County to hold a State normal certificate. In 1878 she was married to Gilbert C PALMER at Oakdale. To this union were born four daughters, Mabel, the youngest passing away at the age of five years, Mr PALMER died several months later on April 19, 1891 and in 1926 another daughter, Mamie died. Mrs PALMER was appointed Superintendent of Schools. In 1894 she was married to A. WARNER, who had come to Nebraska from Ohio in 1869. To this union were born one son and one daughter. Mr WARNER died in 1926. The deceased leaves her children, Mrs D. B. RICHARDS, Omaha, Mrs J. B. HODGE, Elgin, Claude WARNER, Clearwater and Mrs A. B. NEUENSWANDER of Superior, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and friends. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church in Oakdale Thursday afternoon and interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Lovell Thomas WARNER

Funeral services for Lovell Warner Sr. were held at the Tilden Methodist church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. George officiated. Burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. Mr. Warner died at the Tilden hospital Christmas Day. He had been in ill health for some time. Lovell Thomas WARNER was born at Tilden, Nebraska, on November 26, 1872, and departed this life on December 25, 1949, at the Tilden hospital. He grew to manhood in this vicinity and attended the Omaha Commercial College in Omaha. He was married to Mamie PALMER on September 30, 1898, and to them six children were born, all of whom living except Ruth WARNER, who passed away on May 1, 1922. They are Donald WARNER of Denver, Mrs. Bernice FIELDS of Oakdale, Mrs. Genevieve ASHBURN and Lovell WARNER Jr. of Tilden and Mrs. Muriel WHITEHORN of Newman Grove. He was preceded in death by his wife on December 19, 1928. Besides his children he leaves to mourn his death five sisters, one brother and fourteen grandchildren. Mr. Warner left the farm south of Oakdale, where the family resided, in 1917 and moved to Tilden where he was engaged in the oil business for many years. Because of failing health, he lived the last four years in Meadow Grove.

MAMIE PALMER WARNER

Mamie PALMER was born at Oakdale, Nebraska, September 18, 1880, and departed this life at Tilden, Nebraska, December 19, 1928. Her whole life was lived in this part of Nebraska. She was married to Lovell T WARNER September 30, 1898 and to them six children were born, all living except Ruth, who died May 1, 1922. They are: Donald WARNER of Oakdale, Bernice FIELDS of Tilden, Genevieve ASHBURN, Lovell WARNER Jr and Muriel ANDERSON, all of Tilden. Besides her children, she leaves to mourn her death, her husband, Lovell T WARNER, her mother, Mrs Frances WARNER of Oakdale; three sisters and one brother and seven grandchildren. Mrs WARNER was a home loving woman, giving of her time and strength for her family. For the past four and one-half years she has been practically an invalid, confined to her home. She bore her affliction patiently and to the glory of god. She united with the Methodist Church of Tilden, February 5, 1922 and was always a faithful member. She will be missed by her many friends who join the family in mourning her departure. The brief service at home was followed by services at the Methodist Church and interment in the Oakdale Cemetery.

MARY ELIZABETH LOVE WARNER

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Warner, 92, who passed away in Neligh Saturday, were held in the C. H. RAY home in Neligh Monday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. G. C. ROBBERSON. Burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. Mrs. Warner was a pioneer resident of this community, coming to Nebraska in 1873. She and her husband, following their marriage in Ohio, arrived at Wisner, the railroad terminus, in the midst of the terrible April blizzard of that year. They were enroute to their homestead in Antelope County. Mary Elizabeth LOVE was born in Gallia County, Ohio, November 20, 1851, and departed this life February 19,1944, at the age of ninety-two years, two months and twenty-nine days. On April 3, 1873, at Vinton, Ohio, she was united in marriage to Thomas WARNER who had, three years earlier, located on a homestead in Nebraska a few miles northwest of where Tilden is now located. Three years were spent on the homestead after which a home was established on a farm northeast of Oakdale where she spent most of her life, although during more than twenty of the last years of her life Mrs. Warner lived either in Oakdale or Neligh. Her husband preceded her in death in 1928.

There were five children: Eva MEACHAM, who departed this life in 1929, Grace BLACKSTONE, Rapid City, SD., Walter WARNER, Pierre, SD., Wendell WARNER, Oakdale, Florence RAY of Neligh.

RAYMOND T WARNER

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Oakdale Methodist Church. The Revs. Gary MAIN and Brian KOTAS will officiate with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery. Mr WARNER died Wednesday, September 19, 1990. Visitation will be Sunday, 3-9 p.m. at Marshall-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden. He was born November 6, 1916 on a farm near Oakdale, the son of Wendell and Wilda (RICE) WARNER. He attended Neligh and Oakdale schools and served in the U. S. Merchant Marines during World War II. He was married to Janice E. MITCHELL September 15, 1948 at Vermillion, South Dakota. He had farmed all his life near Oakdale and was a member of the Oakdale Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, son, Gary L. and daughter-in-law, Debra, or rural Meadow Grove, brother Gerald of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, sister, Ruth EGGERS of rural Tilden, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.

THOMAS WARNER

Abridged: Thomas WARNER was born in Harrisburg, Ohio, the son of Thomas and Martha WARNER, and came to Nebraska in 1873. He was married to Miss Mary E LOVE of Gallia, Ohio in 1873 and with his young wife came to the end of the railroad which was at Wisner, Nebraska during the terrible blizzard of April 1873. Mr WARNER homesteaded in Dutch Hollow northeast of Tilden. After about three years they moved to a farm northeast of Oakdale. He died January 10, 1928. Mr WARNER leaves to mourn his death his wife, three daughters, Mrs Eva MEACHAM of Dorchester, NE, Mrs Grace BLACKSTONE of Spearfish, SD and Mrs Florence RAY of Oakdale, two sons, Walter of Onida, SD and Wendell of Oakdale, and a large number of other relatives. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, January 10, at the M. E. Church and burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery.

VAN RAYMOND WARNER

Funeral services for Van Raymond WARNER were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 6 at the Oakdale Methodist Church with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery. The Rev. Connie J BUEHLER officiated at the service and active pallbearers were Robert FRADY, Warren WORTMAN, Kenneth EGGERS, CRAIG Mitchell, Keith WORTMAN, and Douglas NISSEN. Honorary pallbearers were E O ARMSTRONG, Vernal BRANDT, James NORMAN, DeWayne RODGERS, Richard SANNE, Irvie SCHWARTING, Gerald THOMSEN, Wayne BEHNKEN, Delbert NEUJAHR, Harold MCDONALD, Stan SANNE, Jerry SCHRADER, Bob SHARPLES and Ron WRIGHT. Van Raymond WARNER was born February 17, 1949 at Tilden to Raymond and Janice MITCHELL WARNER and died on December 4, 1970. He was baptized in the Methodist Church in Oakdale and attended school in Oakdale district until his senior year when he transferred to Neligh, graduating in 1967. He attended Northeastern Nebraska College at Norfolk for two years and Chadron State College for one year. He was employed by the State for two summers and had been working on a full time basis since October 1. He was active in sports throughout his high school years. Survivors include his parents, one brother, Gary at home, and grandfathers, Wendell WARNER of Oakdale and Roy MITCHELL of Creighton.

WENDELL T WARNER

Funeral services for Wendell T WARNER of Oakdale were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday February 7 at the Oakdale Methodist Church at Oakdale with the Rev. Connie J BUEHLER of Elgin and the Rev. Dillon I HESS of Neligh officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery and serving as pallbearers were Ralph KINNAN, Ben BRANDT, Claude ARNOLD, William O EVANS, Theo WEBER, and Melvin MILLER. Honorary pallbearers were Orris BRINK, EARL MCNARE, Frank SONNENFELT, Grover HALSEY, Paul ARNOLD and Bob O’DEY. Wendell Warner son of Tom and Mary LOVE WARNER was born June 13, 1884 in rural Oakdale and died February 4, 1973 at Keahaven Nursing Home in Neligh at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 21 days. He was married to Wilda RICE on May 14, 1914 at Clearwater and they lived on a farm northeast of Oakdale until 1964 when they moved to the edge of town. Survivors include on daughter, Mrs Arnold (Ruth) EGGERS of Tilden, two sons, Raymond of Oakdale and Gerald of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs Florence RAY of Norfolk and one brother, Walter of Olympia, Washington. His wife, Wilda, one grandson, two sisters and one great grandson preceded him in death.

WILDA VALENTINE WARNER

Funeral services for Mrs Wendell WARNER of Oakdale were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 12 at the Methodist Church in Oakdale with the Rev. Connie BUEHLER and the Rev. Robert MIDDLETOWN in charge. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Duane EGGERS, Kenneth EGGERS, Keith EGGERS, Robert SIMPSON, Van WARNER, and Gary WARNER serving as pallbearers. Wilda VALENTINE WARNER was born February 14, 1890 on a farm south of Clearwater to Franklin RICE and Rena Mae PENDLETON RICE and died Saturday, November 9, 1968 at Manor Hall at Tilden. After attending country schools, she attended Gates Academy at Neligh and later Nebraska Wesleyan University at Lincoln. She was married to Wendell WARNER May 14, 1914 at Clearwater and to this union one daughter, Mrs Arnold EGGERS of Tilden and two sons, Raymond of Oakdale and Gerald of Bartlesville, Oklahoma were born. Her husband, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.
