IRENE PARKER VAN KIRK
Services for Irene VAN KIRK, 93, Madison, will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church here. The Rev. David COLLINS will officiated with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery. She died Saturday, August 28, 1993 at Countryside Home. She was born March 4, 1900 on a farm southwest of Plainview to Thomas and Martha (LAWSON) PARKER. She moved with her parents to Oakdale, attended rural school and graduated from Oakdale High School in 1917. She taught rural school in Antelope County for two years and later attended Hastings College for two years. She then taught in the Hastings school system for three years. On November 28, 1924 at Oakdale, she married Virgil VAN KIRK. They lived in Wyoming, California and Idaho, returning to Oakdale in the mid 1940s. They moved to Madison in 1947. She returned to teaching in 1949 at Madison and taught there until retiring in 1969. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1965. Mrs VAN KIRK was member of the Presbyterian Church and its women’s organization, Chapter AL of the PEO Sisterhood, American Legion Auxiliary of Madison, Order of the Eastern Star Beulah Chapter of Norfolk and the Delta Kappa Gamma teaching honorary. Survivors include a sister, Helen HANIKA of Lincoln, three nephews and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on September 17, 1964, one son and on daughter.

MARION ELAINE VAN KIRK
Abridged: Marion Elaine VAN KIRK was born at Oakdale, Nebraska in the home of her grandparents, Mr and Mrs T. C. PARKER, on January 28, 1926 and passed from this life on October 2, 1936. At the time of her death she was in the sixth grade of the Public School in Torrington, Wyoming. Her brother, Robert Gene, preceded her in death on February 13, 1936. She leaves to mourn her loss, her parents, Mr and Mrs V. H. VAN KIRK of Torrington, WY, her grandparents, Mr and Mrs J. W. VAN KIRK of Elgin, and T. C. PARKER of Oakdale and her great grandmother, Mrs Cornelia ARMSTRONG of Oakdale; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church here Monday and interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

ROBERT GENE VAN KIRK
Abridged: Mr and Mrs V. H. VAN KIRK of Torrington, Wyoming brought the body of their five year old son, Bobby, to Oakdale Friday for burial. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church and burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. Robert Gene VAN KIRK was born in Torrington, Wyoming January 19, 1931 and departed this life on February 13, 1936. Bobby leaves to mourn his loss his mother and father, Mr and Mrs V. H. VAN KIRK, and sister Marian of Torrington, Wyoming, a grandfather, T. C. PARKER of oakdale, his grandparents, Mr and Mrs J. W. VAN KIRK of Elgin, a great grandmother, Mrs Cornelia ARMSTRONG, other relatives and friends.
