EDWARD GUY TAYLOR

Funeral services were held Monday, June 20 at 2 p.m. at the Oakdale Methodist Church for Edward Guy TAYLOR with the Rev. Connie BUEHLER, Elgin, officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Ralph KINNAN, Lewis KINNAN, Fay DIETZ, Thomas REINKE, Orville SHERMAN, and Michael WAGNER serving as pallbearers. Edward Guy TAYLOR, son of Edward Lee and Lye COKLEY DAVIS TAYLOR, was born September 1, 1895 at Brownsville, Tennessee and died Saturday, June 18, 1966 in an Omaha Hospital after a long illness at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 17 days. In July 1910 the family moved to Springville, Arkansas. Upon graduation from the Springville High School he attended Business College at Springville. Here he enlisted in the U S Navy in the early part of World War I, serving the duration of the war and one-year overseas following the war. In 1920 he came to Oakdale and purchased an interest in the grocery and dry goods firm of Norwood and Beeley. Later Mr TAYLOR and his brother were associated with A. H. Norwood in the firm of Norwood and Company. On June 14, 1931 he was married to Charlotte CLEMENS of Oakdale. Mr TAYLOR and his brother purchased the Norwood interest in the company in 1936. They operated the business as the TAYLOR Brothers until 1956 when ill health forced the partners to close the store and retire. Survivors include his wife, a son, Kerry of Neligh, one grandson and two sisters, Mrs Robert JOHNSON of Brownsville, Tennessee and Mrs Marrianna HALL of Jackson, Tennessee.

ELLEN TAYLOR

Funeral services for Ellen TAYLOR, 96, of Oakdale were held Tuesday, November 11 at the Marshall-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden with Rev. Richard ODGERS officiating. Kay CROSIER was organist. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Raymond CROSIER, Ivan KINNAN, Raymond SPRINGER, Kerry TAYLOR, John EMERSON and Paul SONNENFELT. Ellen Loretta TAYLOR, daughter of Jacob and Ada WILDERMUTH BEELY, was born February 22, 1892, at Oakdale and died November 9, 1986 at Heritage Village of Tilden. She graduated from high school in Springdale, Arkansas and worked in a jewelry store. On December 25, 1917, she married Raymond I. TAYLOR in Springdale. The couple moved to Oakdale and went into partnership in a general store that later became known as Taylor Brothers. They operated this store, with Raymond’s brother, Guy, until 1956. Mrs TAYLOR lived with the Paul SONNENFELT family in Oakdale for many years before becoming a resident of Heritage Village of Tilden. She was a member of the Methodist Church for about 65 years and was a former member of its ladies aid. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, James R.; and two brothers, Clarence and Floyd BEELY. Survivors include one son, C. Wayne TAYLOR of Omaha.

RAYMOND LESTER TAYLOR

Raymond Lester TAYLOR, 71 years, eight months, and seven days, died Sunday, March 24, 1963 at the Tilden Community Hospital from a heart condition. He was born to Edward Lee and Ldye DAVIS TAYLOR in Brownsville, Tennessee on July 17, 1891. He lived in the area of his birthplace until July 1910, when his parents moved to Springville, Arkansas. The years immediately following were spent in various industries of that area and those of Beaumont, Texas, then returning to Springville to work in drygoods and clothing stores. Mr TAYLOR is survived by his wife, Ellen, two sons, James and Wayne, two sisters, Callie JOHNSON of Brownsville, Tennessee, Mariana HALL of Jackson, Tennessee, one brother, Guy TAYLOR of Oakdale. His parents, two sisters and one brother preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 27 at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Oakdale with the Rev TAPLIN officiating. Pallbearers were Bennie BRANDT, Grover HALSEY, Ivan KINNAN, Ralph KINNAN, earl MCNARE and glen THOMAS.
