EDWARD LINCOLN SPRINGER
Funeral services for Edward L SPRINGER of Oakdale were held Friday, November 10 at 2 p.m. at the MARSHALL Mortuary Chapel at Tilden. The Rev. Connie BUEHLER of Elgin officiated at the service and pallbearers were John DENSON, James RUTERBORIES, Ralph EDWARDS, Forrest ARBOGAST, Clifford SCHULTZ, and Frank MAUGHAN. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Edward Lincoln SPRINGER, the son of Henry and Martha SPRINGER, was born February 13, 1884 at Harcourt, Iowa and died November 7, 1967 at the Tilden Community Hospital at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 23 days. He came to Nebraska with his parents in 1893 and settled in the Oakdale area. On February 24, 1909 he was married to Winnie CONGELTON of Holton, Kansas. Two sons were born to this union. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Winnie, residing at Manor Hall at Tilden, two sons, Marvin of Oakdale and Ralph of Klamath Falls, Oregon, two grandchildren, two brothers, Hobart of Exeter and Leslie of Oakdale and one sister, Mrs Ed BRUGGER of Lake City, Iowa.

ELLA MAE TAVENER SPRINGER
Funeral services for Mrs. Ella SPRINGER were held Saturday at the Neligh Methodist church with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery. Ella Mae TAVENER was born in Clearwater, Nebraska, September 19, 1889, and passed away at Oakdale, Nebraska, August 15, 1940, at the age of fifty years, ten months and twenty-seven days. At the age of twelve she moved to O’Neill, Nebraska with her family. Two years later the Tavener family came to Oakdale, near where she remained the most of her life. On March 26, 1911, she was united in marriage to Fred Orville SPRINGER. They resided several years on the farm in the St. Clair neighborhood southeast of Oakdale. To this union was born Donald SPRINGER, on June 3, 1912. In the spring of 1924 the family moved to a farm north of Neligh. Leona SPRINGER came then in 1926 to brighten this family group. On October 10, 1929, her husband preceded her in death, leaving the little family group to struggle into independence. She is survived by the children, Donald and Leona; by three sisters, her twin, Mrs. August JOHNSON, of Oakdale, Mrs. L. M. GATES of Lincoln, and Mrs. Everett WOODWORTH of Omaha; two brothers, Ernest TAVENER of Oakdale, and Cecil TAVENER of Fort Collins, Colorado.

FRED ORVILLE SPRINGER
Abridged: Fred Orville SPRINGER was born August 5, 1882 at Harcourt, Iowa and died at the Lord Lister Hospital in Omaha on October 10, 1929. He was married to Ella TAVENER on March 27, 1911 at Oakdale and to them one child was born Donald Ernest, who survives his father today. Mr SPRINGER moved with his family from Iowa at the age of 11 to Oakdale where he lived until his removal to Neligh in 1924. He had taken ill in June of 1929 and was operated on in Omaha for a tumor. He was brought home in August but returned for a second operation in September. He never recovered. He leaves his wife, and son, Donald, and adopted child, Leona. Besides these, are eight brothers, Edward, Dan, John, Ernest, Harrison, Walter, Hobart, Leslie and two sisters, Mrs Hattie E. SHAIN and Edith, and his father, H. M. SPRINGER, survive him. The mother and one sister preceded him in death. Interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

HARRISON J SPRINGER
Military funeral services for Harrison J SPRINGER, 68, who died in an Omaha Hospital Friday, July 20, 1956, were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Oakdale. The Rev. I. Lester HART, assisted by Donald SPRINGER, officiated during the services. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Clarence COULTHARD, George OFE, Charles ROUSE, Bernard WARWICK, Guy TAYLOR, and Van WELTZ. Honorary pallbearers were Earl MCNARE, August CARSTENSEN, William NORRIS, Dick CLEMENS, Fred DWORAK and Raymond TAYLOR. Mr SPRINGER was born March 13, 1888 at Harcourt, Iowa to Mr and Mrs Henry M SPRINGER. He came to Antelope County at an early age and lived the rest of his life in or south of Oakdale. He was veteran of World War I and served as manager of the Oakdale Farmer’s Union store for 30 years. He married Willard HAWK on February 6, 1920 and to this union was born five children. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, and two sons. Mrs Lester WAKEFIELD of Lincoln, Mrs Alvin EYMANN of O’Neill, Raymond of Oakdale and Morton of Sidney. There are seven grandchildren, four brothers, Ed and Leslie of Oakdale, Hobert of Exeter and Walter M of Vancouver, Washington and one sister, Mrs Edith
BRUGGER of Lake City, Iowa. He is preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret.

HENRY MARVIN SPRINGER
Abridged: Henry Marvin SPRINGER was born November 20, 1854 near Princeville, IL. When eleven years of age, they moved to Stringtown and there resided until the fall of 1874. They migrated west to Webster County, Iowa and located near Dayton. He was married to Miss Martha Ellen STOUGHTON in September 1876 and to this union were born twelve children, nine sons and three daughters, ten of whom survive; a daughter, Nellie M COOPER and a son Fred O, deceased in 1908 and 1920 respectively. The wife and mother also preceded her husband in death July 26, 1925. In 1893 he moved his family to a farm south of Oakdale. In 1917 the family moved to Neligh where he resided at the time of his death, June 7, 1931. After services he was buried in the Oakdale Cemetery.

MARGARET ELLEN SPRINGER
Margaret Ellen SPRINGER was born near Elgin, Nebraska April 6, 1923 and came with her parents, Mr and Mrs H. H. SPRINGER to Oakdale when eleven months old. She died May 20, 1930 at the age of 7 years, 1 month and 14 days. She is survived by her parents, a brother Raymond, two sisters, Donna Jane and many other relatives and friends. Her Public School report indicates that she was an apt pupil, not falling below 90 only in one study, her average being 93 ˝ and never tardy. Margaret was an habitual attendant at the Sunday school. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery.

MARTHA ELLEN STOUGHTON SPRINGER
Abridged: Martha Ellen STOUGHTON was born May 23, 1858 in Stark County, Illinois. She, with her parents moved to Dayton, Iowa in 1874. She was united in wedlock to Henry M SPRINGER September 3, 1876. To this union were born twelve children. They came to Nebraska in 1893 where they made their home on their farm south of Oakdale until 1917, when they moved to Neligh. For the past couple of years she has been very much an invalid, but uncomplaining and patient through it all. She was ready and composed when the last great call came, conscious up to the last few minutes. She passed away July 26, 1925 aged 68 years, 2 months and 3 days. One daughter, Mrs Nellie COOPER, preceded her beyond. There remains to mourn for and miss her a loving husband, nine sons and two daughters; Fred O, Edward L, John L, Harrison, Ernest R, Dan R, McKinley, Hobart S, Leslie, Miss Edith and Mrs Hattie SHAIN; fifteen grandchildren and two brothers, James STOUGHTON of Yale, Iowa and Henry STOUGHTON, Dayton, Iowa, and four sisters, Mrs Alex DOWD, Kearney, NE, Mrs J. S. MORTON, Rockwell City, IA, Miss Margaret STOUGHTON, Yale, IA and Mrs N. S. SPRINGER, Lohrville, IA. Besides these a host of friends who learned to know and love her during her long life in this community will miss her. Her funeral was held in the M. E. Church of Oakdale. Interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

HENRY MARVIN SPRINGER
Services for Marvin SPRINGER were held a 2 p.m. Friday, October 10, at the United Methodist Church at Oakdale with the Rev. James A STILLMAN of Tilden officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers were James RUTERBORIES, Vincent RUTERBORIES, Clifford SCHULZ, Ralph EDWARDS and John DENSON. Marvin SPRINGER, son of Edward Lincoln SPRINGER and Winnie CONGLETON, was born February 2, 1910 in rural Neligh and spent his adult years farming in the Oakdale and Tilden communities. He died October 8, 1975 at the Valley View Lodge at Norfolk, where had been a resident since February 14, 1974. Survivors include one brother, Ralph of Klamath Falls, Oregon, and two nieces, Mrs Donald (Janice) DUCHARME of Omaha and Mrs Paul (Kay) KOST of Medford, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his father on November 7, 1967 and his mother on February 15, 1968.

WINNIE CONGELTON SPRINGER
Funeral services were held for Mrs Edward SPRINGER of Oakdale Sunday February 18 at the Marshall Mortuary Chapel at Tilden. The Rev. Connie
BUEHLER officiated and burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Mrs Edward SPRINGER was born November 15,1885 to David and Susan CONGELTON at Horton, KS and died February 15, 1968 at Manor Hall at the age of 82 years and three months. She had been a resident of Manor Hall for the past two years. On February 24, 1909 she was united in marriage to Edward SPRINGER at Holton, KS. Survivors include two sons, Marvin of Oakdale and Ralph of Clement Falls, Oregon and two granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband on November 7, 1967, her parents, two sisters and one brother.
