ELIZABETH B "BEE" SONNENFELT

Funeral services for Elizabeth B SONNENFELT, 85 of Oakdale were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 11 at St Francis Catholic Church in Neligh with Rev Father Robert ELMERS officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary GLASS, Richard GLASS, Chris SONNENFELT, Steve SONNENFELT, Mike SONNENFELT, David SONNENFELT, Mark SONNENFELT and Dan PAYNE. Honorary Pallbearers were Scott SONNENFELT, Robert OBERSHAW, Leonard OBERSHAW, Richard SONNENFELT, Harold PAYNE and Clifford SOTO. Elizabeth B SONNENFELT, daughter of Samuel and Mary HARTY BRENAMAN, was born March 29, 1903, at Hubbard, and died February 8, 1989 at Memorial Hospital in Oakland. She attended schools in the Neligh, Clearwater and Albion areas. On June 22, 1925 she married Paul SONNENFELT. They moved to Oakdale in 1926. Mr. SONNENFELT died in March 1967, and Mrs SONNENFELT continued to live in Oakdale until July 1988 at she moved to Oakland to make her home with a grandson, Mike SONNENFELT. She was a member of St Francis Catholic Church in Neligh. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, one grandchild and one brother. Survivors include two sons, Francis of Tracy, California and Stanley of Omaha, one daughter, Mrs Verlin (Mary) GLASS of Wayne, one sister, Mrs Mamie CATRON of Neligh, thirteen grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

FRANCIS SONNENFELT

Funeral services for Francis SONNENFELT, 65, of Oakland, were held Saturday, April 9, at St Francis Catholic Church in Neligh. Rev Frank BAUMERT officiated. Burial was at the Oakdale cemetery with arrangements by Hoepfinger-Beyer Funeral Home of Neligh. Pallbearers were Richard GLASS, Gary GLASS, Brandon SONNENFELT, Derek SONNENFELT, Alex SONNENFELT, Joshua SONNENFELT, Nicholas SONNENFELT, Jason SONNENFELT and Jeremiah SONNENFELT. Francis SONNENFELT son of Paul and Elizabeth (Brennaman) SONNENFELT, was born January 14, 1929, in Oakdale. He graduated from Oakdale high-school in 1947 and on June 3, 1950 he married Nina Mae STOTT at Neligh. Mr SONNENFELT was custodian and and bus driver for the Oakdale schools for many years before moving to California in 1976. He moved to Oakland in 1990. While in Oakdale, he collected antiques and operated an antique shop for a number of years. He was a member of St Francis Catholic Church. Mr SONNENFELT died Tuesday April 5, 1994 at a Sioux City hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Survivors include four sons, Mike of Oakland, Steve of Oakdale, Dave of Craig, and Mark of Norfolk, a daughter, Julie of Oakland, a brother, Stanley of Omaha, a sister, Mary Agnes GLASS of Wayne, special friend, Beverly BROWN of Tracy, California and twelve grandchildren.

FRANK JAMES SONNENFELT

Funeral services for Frank SONNENFELT, 88, of Norfolk, formerly of Oakdale, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 17 at Trinity Lutheran Church inElgin with Rev. Glenn SCHULTZ officiating. Music was provided by the Trinity choir with Pam BECKLUM, organist. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Robert STONE, Denny and William SONNENFELT, Kriss SANDERSON, Bill LAWREY and Gene OLINES serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Harold NIELSEN, Vern JOHNSON, Irvin WAGNER, Archie ELLSBURY, Harold MILLER, and Orris BRINK in charge of graveside military rites. Frank James SONNENFELT, son of Michael and Anna KLUDSIKOSSKY SONNENFELT, was born near Berlin, Germany, on December 27, 1895, and died at the Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Norfolk, April 14, 1984. IN 1899, SONNENFELT came with his family to the United States where they homesteaded near Kilgore. In 1916, they moved to a farm near Oakdale. On July 25, 1917, he enlisted in the U. S. Army at Norfolk. During World War I he served with the 109th Engineers and was discharged July 2, 1919, at Camp Dodge, Iowa. On May 1, 1920, he was united in marriage with Celia GALLOWAY of Kilgore in Cherry County. They farmed and ranched in Cherry County. SONNENFELT was married to Melva Collins at Hyannis on May 10, 1947. This couple farmed southeast of Elgin until 1959 when they retired and moved to their home in Oakdale. Mrs SONNENFELT died Jan 13, 1979. SONNENFELT continued to live in Oakdale until becoming a resident of the Nebraska Veteran’s Home. SONNENFELT was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Melva, one son, Robert James, one daughter, Connie June, two grandchildren, three brothers, Jake, Joseph, and Michael, and one sister, Agnes OBERSHAW. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs Clifford (Dorothy) SOTO, Mrs Harold (Betty) SANDERSON, and Mrs Gordon (Ruth Ann) HOLLAND, all of Oakdale, and Mrs Everett (Bonnie Jean) EATHERTON of Corona, California, two sons, Cecil of Grand Island and Richard of Oakdale, 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and one brother, Paul SONNENFELT, of Oakdale.

Burial Record - page 6402 lists burial but there is a note "contacted Paul Sonnenfelt and he said this burial was made in Tilden"

NINA MAE STOTT SONNENFELT

Funeral services for Mrs Francis SONNENFELT, 31, of Puyallup, Washington, who died there February, 8, 1961, were held in Neligh Wednesday, February 15. The Rev Charles BRODERSON officiated. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Nina Mae STOTT was born in Chambers, July 19, 1929. She moved with her parents to Oakdale when she was a year and a half old. She graduated from the Oakdale High School in 1948. On June 3, 1950 she was married to Francis SONNENFELT. She is survived by her husband and five children, Michael, 9; Stephen, 8; David, 6; Julie Beth, 2 ½; and Mark, 10 months; her mother, four brothers and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her father and one sister. Pallbearers were Harold PAYNE, Leonard OBERSHAW, Arlo RICE, Van ROUSE, Maynard ROUSE and Donald OFE.

PAUL SONNENFELT

Funeral services for Paul SONNENFELT, 84, of Oakdale, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 30 at St Francis Catholic Church in Neligh with Fr. Robert ELMERS and Fr. Clifford STEVENS officiating. Music was provided by Mrs Francis RUTERBORIES, organist, and Mrs James MCNALLY and Paul RUTERBORIES, vocalists. burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers wer gbrandsons, Scott, Michael, Chris, Stephen, David and Mark SONNENFELT, and Gary and Richard GLASS. Paul SONNENFELT, son of Michael and Anna SONNENFELT, was born September 30, 1902 at Kilgore, and died Thursday March 26, 1987 at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh. He attended school at Kilgore until 1918 when the family moved to Oakdale. SONNEFELT then began to work for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. On June 22, 1925, he married Elizabeth B. Brennaman at Neligh. They lived in Oakdale until 1933 when SONNENFELT’s work with the railroad took the family to Ewing. In 1935 they moved to Neligh and from there they lived in several other small towns until returning to Oakdale in 1942. SONNENFELT worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 49 years, with 38 of those years served as foreman. He retired in 1965. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, three brothers, and one grandchild. Survivors include his wife of Oakdale; two sons, Stanley of Omaha and Francis of Tracy, California; one daughter, Mary Agnes GLASS of Wayne; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
