CLARENCE E SHERMAN
Services for Clarence E SHERMAN, 88, of Oakdale were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 31 at Marshall-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden with Mr Alvin SCHWARTING officiating. Kay CROSIER served as organist and accompanied Zella SCHWARTING, vocalist. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Claude FORSLUND, William MILLER, Joe GROSSERODE, Ralph KINNAN, Walter KLOEPPER, and Rick KEE serving as pallbearers. Clarence E Sherman, son of William E and Satire G SMITH SHERMAN, was born at Murray on March 5, 1895 and died at the Tilden community hospital on October 18, 1983. SHERMAN received his education at Long Pine and farmed in the Oakdale community until retiring into town in 1973. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Rolla, Glenn and Dale. Survivors include two brothers Lloyd of Pierce and Orville of Neligh, and one sister, Mrs Kenneth (Velma) ROBINSON of Mesa, Arizona.

LURA IONA KECK SHERMAN
The funeral of Mrs Wm. SHERMAN was held here yesterday, November 1. The services were held at the grave, conducted by Dr. C. L. MYERS, pastor of the Methodist Church and interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. Death resulted from Spanish influenza after a sickness of only three days. The remains were brought to Oakdale from Irwin Thursday morning. Lura Iona KECK, daughter of Mr and Mrs John KECK was born at Randolph, Nebraska, March 8, 1891 and departed life at Irwin, Nebraska, October 28, 1918, being aged 27 years, 7 months and 20 days. She was married to William SHERMAN on August 14, 1912. The deceased is survived by her husband, and five children, father and mother, three sisters and three brothers.

ORVILLE L SHERMAN
Abridged: Funeral services for Orville L Sherman were held Wednesday, March 22, at the Oakdale Church of Christ. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Orville Sherman, son of William E and Satira (Smith) Sherman, was born August 31, 1908 at Long Pine, Nebraska. He attended school District 1 south of Oakdale and also Oakdale High School. On September 27, 1941 he married Florence A Simon at Omaha. Mr Sherman died Sunday, March 19, 2000 at the Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh. Preceding him in death were his parents, five brothers, Clarence, Lloyd, Rolla, Glenn and Dale; and a sister, Velma Robinson. Survivors include his wife, Florence, nieces and nephews

SATIRA GENIA SHERMAN
Satira Genia SMITH, daughter of William SMITH and Tressie SMITH, was born January 8, 1870, at Whiting, Iowa, and passed away at her home Tuesday morning, January 28, 1941, aged 71 years and 20 days. When four years old her mother passed away and she lived with relatives at Plattsmouth, Nebraska and German City, Iowa. In 1891 she came to Madison, Nebraska, and in 1893 she was united in marriage to William Ellsworth SHERMAN on January 25. To this union were born seven children. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, six sons and one daughter, Glenn SHERMAN of Washington, D. C., Rolla SHERMAN of Hartley, Iowa, Lloyd SHERMAN of Tilden, Mrs. Velma ROBINSON of Omaha, Clarence SHERMAN, Dale SHERMAN, and Orville SHERMAN at home in Madison; 8 grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. S. KAUFFROTH of Julian from the Methodist church in Oakdale Thursday afternoon with burial in the Oakdale cemetery.

WILLIAM ELLSWORTH SHERMAN
William E. SHERMAN, who had been in poor health for some time, died at his farm home south of Oakdale Friday morning. His wife preceded him in death just ten months ago. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church Sunday by Rev. R. E. DAUGHHETEE. Burial was made in the Oakdale cemetery. William Ellsworth SHERMAN, son of Mr. and Mrs. John SHERMAN, was born July 4, 1861, at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and passed away at his home Friday morning, November 28, at the age of eighty years, four months and twenty-four days. When two years old he moved with his folks to Michigan ad then later to Illinois and Iowa and at the age of twenty-three he came with them to Madison, Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Satira SMITH on January 25, 1893. They moved to this community in 1917, having lived at Madison, McCook, Long Pine and Ainsworth. To this union were born seven children. Mrs. SHERMAN preceded him in death on January 28, 1941. He leaves to mourn his passing six sons and one daughter, Clarence SHERMAN and Orville SHERMAN at home, Glenn SHERMAN of Washington, D. C., Rolla SHERMAN of Hartley, Iowa, Lloyd SHERMAN of Tilden, Dale SHERMAN of Oakdale, Velma SHERMAN (Mrs. Kenneth ROBINSON) of Omaha; eight grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Mr. SHERMAN had been a member of the Baptist Church since 1906.
