Hazel M. ROMIG
Graveside services for Hazel M. Romig, 83, of Grand Island, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh. The Rev. Carol James will officiate. There will be no visitation.
The Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home of Grand Island is in charge of arrangements. Hazel M. Branen, daughter of Harry and Cathryn (Reynolds) Branen, was born January 14, 1914, at Neligh. She grew up near Neligh and attended country schools. On October 10, 1938, she married Sterling ROMIG at Pender. In 1946, the couple moved to Grand Island, where Mrs. ROMIG worked in child care for Archie Boyd for 25 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Mrs. Romig died Monday, Nov. 10, at the Lakeview Health Care and Rehab Center in Grand Island. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; and two sisters Francis Holmes and Lottie Hansen. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. James (Carol Jean) Stauss of St. Paul; two sons, William ROMIG of Prattville, Ala., and Gerald Romig of Lincoln; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Catherine Fuller of Clearwater and Mrs. Albert (Clara) Gurnsey of Bassett; two brothers, William Branen of Neligh and Howard Branen of Sioux Falls, So. Dak.; and a nephew, Jay Branen of Neligh.
