GUSSIE O BARR RETZLAFF
services for Gussie o retzlaff, 81, lincoln, formerly of Oakdale, will be a 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hoepfinger-Beyer Funeral Home. the Rev. Richard odgers will officiate with Burial in the Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home. She was born February 11, 1904, In Minnesota, the daughter of Melburn and Emma (BURHAM) BARR. She died Saturday, October 12, 1985 at Lincoln. Survivors include her husband Walter H. of Lincoln, three sons, Warren of Haines City, Florida, Fray of Gretna and Paul of Lincoln. Five daughters, Mrs May Lou george of Nampa, Idaho, Mrs Donna leland of Lincoln, Mrs illa hunt of Prescott, Arizona, Mrs Ona (Ann) strand of Live Oak, Florida, and Mrs Joy broman of Des Moines, Iowa, 20 Grandchildren, and 17 Great Grandchildren.

JOHN GOTFRIED RETZLAFF
John G RETZLAFF was born at Stettin, Germany, October 22, 1833 and passed away at his home in Oakdale April 21, 1936, aged one hundred and two years and six months. He was married to Alvina BOURKE in Germany in 1868, coming that same year to America. Mrs RETZLAFF died February 7, 1921. To this union were born fourteen children, eleven of whom are living, Harry of Jefferson, SD, John of Norfolk, Rudy of Deloit, Mrs Sam PRATT of Groveton, TX, Mrs Charles MANDELKO of Long Pine, Mrs Ralph RALSTON, Norfolk, Mrs Chris SCHUCHARDT and Mrs John WILKINSON of Elgin, Mrs Don BOWMAN, Otto and Frank of Oakdale. When he came to America he immediately came to West Point where he homesteaded and remained thirteen years. The family moved to Oakdale in 1882 where his home had since been. Mr RETZLAFF was miller in the old mill for many years. After the new mill was built he decided to farm for a few years. When he retired from the farm he spent the rest of his active years on the home place. About a year ago he began to fail but was up until Saturday, April 18, when be became much weaker until he seemed to quietly go to sleep. He was conscious and clearminded, being very pleasant and easy to care for until the last. He was a very kind and thoughtful parent and will be much missed by every relative, neighbor and friend. Besides his immediate family of children, he leaves to mourn him thirty-six grandchildren, seventy-four great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Mr RETZLAFF was the oldest man in Antelope County, considering his long life due to temperate habits. He saw this County progress from raw prairie to one of the finest agricultural sections of the State. Although he played no spectacular part in County life he was always interested in community interests. Funeral services conducted by Rev. R. S. KAUFFROATH were held at the home Friday afternoon. Interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Frank Retzlaff
Funeral services for Frank Retzaff, 83, who died Tuesday, March 12, 1956 at Wieser, Idaho, were held there last Thursday. Mr Retzlaff was born at West Point, NE and moved to Oakdale when he was eight years old. He lived there until fifteen years ago when he moved to Idaho. He was engaged in the carpenter’s trade. His first wife died 47 years ago. In 1946 he married Mrs Amanda Inglesby. Mr Retzlaff is survived by his wife, four sons, Warren of Cordon, Henry and Walter of Lincoln, and Lawrence of Beaver Crossing, two daughters, Mrs William Eyman of Omaha and Mrs Steve Bettendorf of Arcata, CA, four sisters, Mrs Martha Mandelko of Chadron, Mrs Rose Ralston of Norfolk and Mrs John Wilkinson and Mrs Katie Bowman, both of Oakdale, two brothers, Harry of SD and John of Portland, OR, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

MARY ANNA BROWN RETZLAFF
Following an illness of nearly a year, Mrs Frank RETZLAFF died Monday noon, December 14, 1914, at the home of her mother, Mrs H. F. BROWN of Oakdale. Mary Anna BROWN was born at Plainview, Nebraska on August 27, 1880. She was married to Frank RETZLAFF in 1900 and to this union were born six children, four boys and two girls, all of who survive with the father. She is also survived by her mother, four brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held at the United Brethren Church and interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

KATHERINE PEETS RETZLAFF
Smith at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon. Burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. Mrs. Retzlaff died at her home here last Thursday after a lingering illness. Katherine (Katie) PEETS, daughter of John PEETS and Jane PEETS, was born in Clay county, Iowa, on March 15, 1876, and died at her home in Oakdale, Nebraska, on September 16, 1943, aged sixty-seven years, six months and one day. She moved with her parents to Antelope county, Nebraska, in 1880, and settled near Oakdale where she spent the remainder of her life. She was married to Otto RETZLAFF in 1893 and to this union five children were born. Her husband and two children preceded her in death. She was a member of the United Brethren Church for a number of years. She was a kind and loving mother. She leaves to mourn her passing three children, Fred RETZLAFF, Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Fannie STOREY, Omaha, NE. Mrs. Hattie EYMANN, Oakdale; 15 grandchildren; sisters Mrs. Cora COHEE and Mrs. Neil GALLAMORE of Arcata, Ca., Mrs. Lulu PREVO and Mrs. Ada DUNCAN, Oakdale; and brother Ed PEETS of Oakdale.

Abridged: Rosie RETZLAFF, youngest child of Mr and Mrs Otto RETZLAFF, drowned last Saturday, April 12, 1902. She was about 2 years old. Funeral services wer held at the house on Monday, April 14. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery.

OTTO RETZLAFF
Abridged: Otto RETZLAFF was born at West Point, Nebraska on August 23, 1869 and passed away on June 1, 1936. He was married to Katie PEETS of Oakdale on January 21, 1893. To this union five children were born, three of whom are living, Fred of Portland, Oregon, Mrs Chris EYMANN of Oakdale, Nebraska and Mrs Earl Story of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Mr RETZLAFF came with his parents to Oakdale from West Point in 1882 when thirteen years old. When he was sixteen he began working in the new mill with his father and finally became head MILLER. He was also employed at the Norfolk, Tilden and Neligh mills. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. He leaves to mourn him, his wife and three children, fifteen grandchildren, one great grandchild, four sisters and four brothers. On April 24 he attended his father’s funeral and on Monday, May 11 was taken ill and was bedfast until he died. Funeral services were conducted at the United Brethren Church and interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Walter RETZLAFF
Walter Retzlaff, 91, formerly of Oakdale, died October 27, 1995, in Lincoln. He was born in Oakdale on September 7, 1904 and lived there for many years before moving to Lincoln. He was married to Gussie Barr and they farmed in the Oakdale area. Services were conducted October 31 at the Metcalf Funeral Home in Lincoln with graveside services held at the Oakdale Cemetery. Survivors include three sons, Warren Retzlaff of Davenport, Fl, Ray Retzlaff of Gretna and Paul Retzlaff of Lincoln; four daughters, Mary Lou George of Nampa, Idaho, Donna Leland of Lincoln, Ona Strand of Live Oaks, FL and Joy Broman of Bondurant, IA, 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
