Moses Brown Morrill, 1842-1929
Moses Brown MORRILL was born in Springfield, Sullivan County, New Hampshire on February 24, 1842, and died at his home in Orchard, Nebraska, on April 2, 1929, at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 9 days.
The funeral services were held at the United Presbyterian church on April 4, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Service and interment was made in the local cemetery.
M.B. MORRILL was the fourth in a family of ten children, six boys and four girls. He was converted at the age of twenty-one years and joined the Christian church at the age of twenty-two.
He left his parents, relatives and friends and went to Iowa, arriving in Chickasaw county, November 5, 1864. Here he purchased land and resided for a number of years.
He was united in marriage to Margaret Ann PHILIPS March 26, 1877 at Charles City, Iowa. To this union four children were born; two sons and two daughters, Myrtle L. MORRISON of Murtough, Idaho; Mrs. Harriet L. DURKEE of Tabor, Iowa; J.G. MORRILL of Orchard; R.C. MORRILL of Royal. He was also the grandfather of nine children.
After living on a farm in Iowa for about ten years, they removed to Knox county, Nebraska the latter part of September, 1887 and again removed to Orchard, Nebraska, November 1919, where he resided at the time of his death.
His wife and children survive him. He survived his parents and all his brothers and sisters.
After coming west Mr. MORRILL joined the Methodist church, of which he remained a constant and exemplary member.
