AUGUSTA S. MILLIKEN

Funeral services for Augusta S. MILLIKEN, 83, of Oakdale were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 5 at Hoepfinger-Beyer Funeral Home in Neligh with Alvin SCHWARTING officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Alvin SCHWARTING, vocalist, accompanied by Mrs. Glen KALVELAGE, pianist. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Victor OBERSHAW Jr., Kevin MILLIKEN, Russel MILLIKEN, Pat LOTSPEICH, Ronnie MILLIKEN and Ronald PETERS. Augusta Sophia MILLIKEN, daughter of Herman and Freda WALTERS RADEBAUGH, was born September 7, 1902 at Clearwater, and died February 1, 1986 at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh. In 1920, she married Lyle I. MILLIKEN at O’Neill. He died in 1961. Mrs MILLIKEN had resided in Oakdale for the past 41 years. Before that, she lived in Neligh. She was a member of the Oakdale Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother; two sisters; and four infant children. Survivors include five sons; LeRoy of Des Moines, Iowa; Duane of Oakdale; Junior of Sioux City, Iowa; Keith of Mead; Kenneth of Fremont; six daughters; Mrs Geraldine LOTSPEICH of Columbus; Mrs Bertha Obershaw of Rogers; Mrs John KOHL and Mrs Marie RUESS, both of Norfolk; Mrs Emma COX of Moses Lake, Washington; and Mrs Linda PETERS of Vermillion, South Dakota; four sisters; Mrs Rosie BELMER; Mrs Mary KELLY; and Mrs Bertha MCKAY, all of Clearwater; and Mrs Millie JOHNSON of Willington, Texas; 49 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

DUANE MILLIKEN

Funeral services for Duane MILLIKEN, 59, of Oakdale were held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 1, at Hoepfinger-Beyer Funeral Home in Neligh. Alvin SCHWARTING officiated at the service and interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery. He died Monday January 29, 1990 at the Neligh nursing center. Serving as pallbearers were Sam STAHL, Doug DRAGOO, Ernest WORLEY, Allen BERG, Don POLLOCK and Richard PETERS,. MILLIKEN was born to Lyle and Augusta (Radenbaugh) MILLIKEN on June 23, 1930 in Neligh. On August 15, 1963 married Lois PETERS at Yankton, South Dakota. He moved to Oakdale thirteen years ago from Omaha and had been a village maintenance worker at Oakdale. Survivors include two sons, Russell of Aurora and Ronnie of Oakdale, four brothers, LeRoy of Des Moines,Iowa , Keith of Mead, Junior of Sioux city, Iowa and Kenny of Fremont.

FRANCES AMELIA LATTA MILLIKEN

Francis Amelia LATTA MILLIKEN, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. J. LATTA was born at Van Buren, Jackson County, Iowa, November 30, 1863 and died at her home in Tilden, Nebraska, March 9, 1923, aged 59 years, 3 months and 11 days. Early in life she came with her parents to Nebraska and on December 25, 1881 was married to John Henry MILLIKEN. In 1888 the deceased with her family came to Oakdale, removing from her to Tilden in 1910. Death was caused by cancer of the stomach and during the greater part of the past year Mrs MILLIKEN was an intense sufferer. The best medical and surgical skill was exerted to stay the ravages of the disease but to no avail. The deceased was a devoted wife and mother, giving her life to her home and family. She was the mother of eleven children, all of whom survive, namely: Ethel KELLER of Benson, NE, Lula BURNS, Maude SHAWGO and Clem MILLIKEN of Omaha, NE, William, Henry, Lyal, Alvin, Harriet MILLIKEN and Myrtle BLISS of Tilden, NE; one sister, Mrs Joel STAPLES of Minnesota also survives and was with Mrs MILLIKEN during the last days of her illness. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, March 11, at the M. E. Church in Tilden, conducted by pastor, Rev. G. H. JOHNSON, and interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

GRANDMA MILLIKEN

Grandma MILLIKEN, who had a paralytic stroke some time ago, was growing gradually worse until this week when she seemed a little easier. There was no real improvement however and she died on Thursday, October 8, 1903. The funeral will be held on Saturday afternoon and burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery.

HENRY MILLIKEN

The body of Henry MILLIKEN was brought here from Omaha Tuesday afternoon, December 10, for burial. Services were held in Omaha. The American Legion Post of Tilden had charge of the services at the grave here, Oakdale Cemetery, with their firing squad, bugler and chaplain. Henry MILLIKEN was a former Oakdale and Tilden resident.

JOHN HENRY MILLIKEN

John Henry MILLIKEN was born October 30, 1853 and died at Omaha on January 24, 1928 at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 25 days. He was married to Miss Amelia LATTA of BLAIR, Nebraska on December 23, 1881. There were eleven children born to bless this union, all of who survive him to mourn the death of their beloved father, his wife having preceded him in death several years ago. The children are: Mrs Ethel KELLER, Chicago, Mrs Lula BURNS, Omaha, Mrs Maude LARSON, Omaha, Clem MILLIKEN, Wichita, William MILLIKEN, Bennington, NE, Henry MILLIKEN, Tilden, Mrs Myrtle BLISS, Tilden, Lyal MILLIKEN, Tilden, Mrs Gladys LAKEY, Sterling, CO, Alvin MILLIKEN, Beatrice, NE, and Mrs Harriet PROUIX, Dallhart, TX. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Oakdale on Thursday, January 26 and interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery.

LYLE MILLIKEN

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. August 17 at the Oakdale Church of Christ for Lyle MILLIKEN with Alvin SCHWARTING, pastor in charge. Music was funished by Mrs Alvin SCHWARTING and Alvin PETERSON with Mrs Alvin PETERSON at the piano. Lyle MILLIKEN was born to Mr and Mrs Henry MILLIKEN at Oakdale in January 29, 1889 and died August 13, 1961 at his home. On December 22, 1921 he was married to Augusta RADEBAUGH at O’Neill and to this union 15 children were born. He had made his home in Oakdale for the past 17 years. Survivors are six daughters, Mrs Geraldine LOTSPEICH of Eureka, California, Mrs Bertha OBERSHAW of Sioux City, Mrs Joann KOHL of Omaha, Mrs Erma MORRIS of Seattle, Mrs Marie REUSS of Clearwater and Linda at home, five sons, LeRoy of Omaha, Junior, Duane, Kenneth and Keith at home, four sisters and 18 grandchildren. Interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Ralph LOUIS and Ike KINNAN, Dick CHILDS, Dell BLISS, and Gene CARNEY serving as casket bearers. (note: corrected spelling of last name)

TAMMY MARIE MILLIKEN

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 11 at 2 p.m. at the Oakdale Church of Christ for Tammy Marie MILLIKEN, two month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Duane MILLIKEN, with Alvin SCHWARTING pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Tammy Marie MILLIKEN was born July 11, 1966 at Neligh and was found dead in her bed Friday morning, September 9, 1966 when her parents awakened. Death was attributed to quick pneumonia. Survivors are her parents, grandparents, Mr and Mrs Albert PETERS and Mrs Augusta MILLIKEN.
