AUSTIN EDWARD MALZACHER

Funeral services for A E MALZACHER, 89, life long resident of the Neligh and Oakdale communities will be held Thursday, June 25, at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in Neligh with Dr Charles CARTER officiating. Mrs Carroll YOST will sing accompanied by Mrs Marguerite CARNES at the organ. Masonic rites will be conducted at the Church. Interment will be in the Oakdale Cemetery with Alfred BRODERSON, Homer KESTER, C I GILLESPIE, Harold RICE, Harold KESTER, and Charles SALSIBURY serving as pallbearers. Austin Edward MALZACHER, son of John and Jennie MALZACHER, was born on a farm north of Oakdale on September 23, 1874 and died at his home at Neligh on June 23, 1964, at the age of 80 years and 9 months. On April 27, 1898 he was married to May O WAGNER of Oakdale at the home of her parents. Their marriage untied two pioneer families of the Oakdale community. To this union seven children were born, a daughter, Gladys, died in infancy. They made their home near Oakdale until 1907 when they moved to Neligh at which time he entered the County Treasurer’s office. Mr MALZACHER was president of the Neligh Lumber Company until he retired in 1946. He was a 50 year member of the Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge and was active in both Church and community affairs. Survivors are two sons, Dr John MALZACHER of Twisp, Washington, and Paul of Neligh, four daughters, Mrs C C POWERS of Wayne, Mrs S W THORNTON of Omaha, Mrs O E KROHN and Mrs G W WEIK, both of Neligh, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and four half sisters.

EMILY WRIGHT MALZACHER

Abridged: Emily WRIGHT was born in Galia County, Ohio February 14, 1851, one of a family of six sisters and three brothers; and passed away at her home near Oakdale, Nebraska, December 29, 1926. In the year 1876 she came with her sister to Nebraska. Emily WRIGHT was married to John MALZACHER March 25, 1880 and to this union eight children were born, two dying in infancy, Lillian and Fannie dying in young womanhood. Mrs MALZACHER is survived by her husband and four daughters, Mrs Violet SCHULTZ of Atkinson, NE, Mrs Jessie NEVILLS, Hinchley, UT, Hazel and Josephine at home, one sister, Mrs Calvin Keller of Payette, ID, a brother, Lafayette WRIGHT, Junction City, OR, and Mr Malzachers two children, A. E. MALZACHER, Neligh, and Mrs Elsie HUFFMAN of Chicago, IL. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church in Oakdale Friday afternoon, December 31, and interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery

FANNIE MALZACHER

Abridged: publications from March 11 and 25, 1921. News of the death of Miss Fannie MALZACHER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John MALZACHER, at the Methodist hospital in Omaha was received here Wednesday night, March 9, 1921. Miss MALZACHER came to Omaha from Ranger, Texas, Tuesday and the day following submitted to a surgical operation, which seemed to have been successful, but a few hours later she fell asleep. The remains were brought to Oakdale and funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, at 2 o’clock, at the M. E, Church. Dr. C. L. MYERS will preach the sermon and the music will be rendered by a quartet composed of Mrs. V. E. BRAINARD, Mrs. Chas. H. FRADY, A. T. GALLOWAY, E. O. TAVENER. Burial will be made in the Oakdale Cemetery. Fannie MALZACHER was born in Oakdale, Nebraska., July 8, 1893, and grew to young womanhood here. She was graduated from the Oakdale high school with the class of 1911 and afterward completed a full classical course at the University of Nebraska. She was a successful teacher for the past five years and was teaching her second year at Ranger, Texas.

GLADYS MALZACHER

Died June 14, 1900, Gladys MALZACHER, only daughter of Otto and May MALZACHER. She was born November 27, 1898 and was 18 months, two weeks and two days old. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery.


 

Obituary-The Oakdale Sentinel-February 16, 1933

JOHN MALZACHER

Abridged: John MALZACHER was born at Baden, Germany, June 3, 1849 and died February 8, 1933, at Norfolk, Nebraska. He came to America in 1866, settling in Antelope County in 1869. He was one of the earliest settlers and one of the most esteemed men. He was married to Jennie ELWOOD on December 24, 1873 and to this union were born three children. His wife died February 15, 1879. He was married to Emily WRIGHT on March 25, 1880 and to this union were born eight children. He is survived by one son, A. E. MALZACHER of Neligh, Mrs Guy D NEVILLS of Boulder, CO, Mrs R. E. KAUFFMAN of Denver, CO, Josephine MALZACHER of Denver, and also sixteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one sister, Amelia MALZACHER of New Orleans, LA. Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church Saturday afternoon. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery.


Obituary-The Oakdale Sentinel-May 3, 1910

LILLIAN MALZACHER

Abridged: Died, Mrs Lillian MALZACHER at St Joseph Hospital in Deadwood, South Dakota on April 28, 1910 after a brief illness. The body was brought home by her mother and father on Friday. A short service was held at the home on Saturday and then the funeral at the Methodist Episcopal Church, conducted by Rev. LEIDY. Miss MALZACHER was born on the homestead on 27 April 1883.

LEO MALZACHER

Leo MALZACHER was born in Baden, Germany August 15, 1851, died near Oakdale, Nebraska, January 12, 1928 in the 77th year of his age. The deceased came to America in 1874 and has since made his home with his brother, Mr John MALZACHER. The funeral services were held at the house Saturday afternoon, January 14 and interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.
