A. J. LATTA was born in Ashland County, Ohio, January 17, 1832 and moved to Jackson County, Iowa when a young man, where he married Harriet E. LANE, December 8, 1856. She died June 2, 1868, leaving four small children. He was married to Mary J. SHINER, February 18, 1869. He came to Oakdale in 1903 but has been blind and deaf most of the time. He died May 22, 1905. Three daughters survive; Mrs J. H. MARR of Staples, Minnesota, Mrs N. O. VAN ARSDALE of Tekamah, and Mrs J. H. MILLIGAN, who were at his bedside. He was a member of the Methodist Church. The funeral services were held in the Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. R. J. MCKENZIE officiating. The remains were buried in the Oakdale Cemetery.
