Albert B. Jasper, 1913-1990
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 28, at Fontana, CA., for Albert Bernard Jasper, who died March 25 at Fontana, at the age of 76 years, six months and four days.
The son of John and Anna (Williams) Jasper, he was born Sept. 21, 1913, in Elgin, Nebraska. He attended St. Boniface School, grew to adulthood in Elgin and worked for various farmers and ranchers in the area.
On March 30, 1936, he was married to Jean Lakey of Elgin in St. Boniface Catholic Church. The couple continued to live in Elgin until 1940, when they moved to Sterling, CO, where he was employed by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad.
On Jan. 12, 1944, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theatre. He was discharged on Nov. 21, 1945, and returned to his former employment with the railroad.
In 1953, the family moved to Fontana, CA, where he was employed by Kaiser Steel Co., until his retirement in 1978. He spent his retirement gardening, and enjoying the company of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Fontana.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; two sons, Michael and Richard; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Gertrude Krause of Elgin and Rose Young of Des Moines, IA; two brothers, John of Columbus, NE, and Lawrence of Lacey, WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Jasper; one sister, five half sisters and two half brothers.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Humphrey Ruszel at Green Acres Chapel. Interment was in Green Acres Cemetery.
