JAMES M. HUSELTON

Funeral services for Jas. HUSELTON, 76, who died at his home Saturday following a lingering illness, were conducted at the United Brethren church here Monday afternoon by Rev. L. A. REGER. Burial was made in the Oakdale cemetery. James Martin HUSLETON, only child of Sarah and William HUSELTON, was born at Peru, Indiana, on November 13, 1865, and departed this life at his home in Oakdale, Nebraska, June 6, 1942, at the age of seventy-six years, six months and twenty-four days. His mother died when he was about a week old and he made his home with his grandparents until he was about four years of age at which time an uncle, Benjamin NICHELSON, of Mohamet, Illinois, took him and reared him to young manhood. When he was sixteen he came to Nebraska with his uncle who homesteaded near O’Neill. As a young man he worked on the railroad and later went to Dodge, Nebraska, to work. On January 31, 1893, he was married to Vironicy McMILLIN at Bloomfield, Nebraska. They made their home on a farm near Dodge until 1905 when they moved to a farm in the Star community south of Oakdale, Nebraska. With exception of two years spent in Oakdale this was his home until 1927 when he again moved to Oakdale. To this union two sons were born. Earl HUSELTON preceded him in death in 1917 and his wife April 4, 1936. He is survived by one son, Lloyd HUSELTON of Oakdale; three grandchildren; several cousins, who were like brothers and sisters to him, and a host of friends. "Uncle Jimmy," as he was familiarly known to so many, had been ill for several months; confined to his bed most of the time; and while suffering a great deal was for the most part a cheerful patient. He was a kind father, a helpful neighbor and a good citizen, interested in the betterment of his community. Another of our pioneers has passed from our midst.
