ARTIMESIA EVELYN THORNBURG HUNTER
Funeral services for Mrs Artie E HUNTER of Oakdale were held Saturday, April 27 at 2 p.m. at the Oakdale Methodist Church with the Rev Willis TAPLIN of Central City and the Rev Connie BUEHLER of Elgin officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery and serving as pallbearers were Irvin WAGNER, Louis KINNAN, Raymond CROSIER, Ivan KINNAN, Orville SHERMAN and Ralph KINNAN. Mrs HUNTER died Thursday, April 25, 1968 at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 18 days. Artimesia Evelyn THORNBURG HUNTER was born June 7, 1878 at Winterset, Iowa to George and Mary THORNBURG. When she was six years of age she came with her parents to Oakdale to live, graduating from Oakdale high school in 1898. She then attended Wayne Teachers College. She taught for four years in rural schools in Antelope County. In 1902, she was married to George W. HUNTER. They farmed in the St Clair Valley for three years and then moved to Oakdale where they operated a shoe store, later moving to a farm between Loretto and Petersburg. They then oved to a farm south of Oakdale. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs Harold (Doris) PIERCE of Lincoln, one son, Ralph of Oakdale, a sister, Mrs Dorothy FREY of San Diego, California, four grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Her husband and one son, Paul, preceded her in death.

GEORGE WASHINGTON HUNTER
Funeral services were held at the Oakdale Methodist Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. for George W HUNTER with the Rev. Willis R TAPLIN officiating. Interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Ralph KINNAN, Darrell KINNAN, Raymond CROSIER, Ivan KINNAN, Lewis KINNAN and Earl MCNARE serving as pallbearers. George Washington HUNTER, the son of William and Mary HUNTER, was born January 31, 1878 at Dewey, Illinois and died Saturday night, August 22, 1964 at Antelope Memorial Hospital. He had lived in Antelope County all of his life and was a farmer and cattleman. Mr HUNTER was active in community affairs and in his Church. Survivors are his wife, a daughter, Mrs H R PIERCE, Lincoln, a son, Ralph, Oakdale, two sisters, Mrs Rose COWIN, Lincoln, and Mrs Minnie LATSO, Geneva, a brother, William BRITTAIN, Oakdale, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul.

HOPE HONEY HUNTER
Abridged: Hope HONEY was born in Antelope County on June 24, 1878. She was a successful teacher from 17 to 21 years of age. She married Edward HUNTER. She was 25 years, 8 months and 17 days old when she died on March 6, 1904. She leaves a husband and two children; a son three and a daughter 10 months. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery.

JOHN WALTER HUNTER
John Walter HUNTER was born in FORD County, Illinois on June 2, 1874 and died in Spokane, Washington on March 15, 1913. He came to Antelope County with his parents and married Miss Maggie SCONNELL in 1894. Two children were born to them, Harold W and Francis E, who reside with their mother in Tilden. He leaves three sisters and two brothers; Mrs Rosa COWIN and George W HUNTER of Oakdale, Mrs Minne TATRO of Geneva, W. B. BRITTAIN of Neligh and Mrs Emma LAWRENCE of Lincoln. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal Church on Monday afternoon, Rev. J. P. BLAKELEY officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery beside the remains of his father and mother.

MARY JOSIE MARKET HUNTER
Died at her home in Oakdale, Nebraska on Thursday afternoon, November 19, 1896, Mrs W. H. HUNTER, in the 51st year of age. Mrs HUNTER was born in Germany in 1846. Her maiden name being Mary J. MARKET. When nine years of age she moved to this country with her parents and resided first in Indiana and later moved to Illinois. Her first marriage was with Mr. L. BRITTAIN, and to them was born three children, two of whom are living, William BRITTAIN of St Clair and Mrs Emma LAURENCE of Lincoln, Nebraska. The death of Mr. L. BRITTAIN occurred several years after the marriage. On February 28, 1872, she married in Champaign County, Illinois Mr. W. H. HUNTER. The moved to St. Clair Valley in Antelope County, Nebraska in 1882 where they resided until January of this year when they moved to Oakdale. Five children were born to Mr and Mrs HUNTER, all of whom are left to mourn their mother’s death; J. W. HUNTER of St. Paul, Minnesota, Mrs Minnie TATRO, now of Oakdale, and Edward, George and Rosa at their home in Oakdale. She also leaves, besides the bereaved husband, a mother and stepfather who reside in Illinois. Four 20 years, Mrs HUNTER had been troubled with asthma and had suffered from it in recent years and lately dropsical and other complications set in which terminated in her death. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Oakdale on Sunday, November 22 at 1 p.m. The sermon was preached by Rev. W. M. MCFARLAND, Pastor of the Baptist Church of Tilden of which church the deceased was a member. All of her seven children were present at the funeral. The attendence at the services was very large and was a striking proof of the love and esteem in whom the deceased and her family are held. The floral pieces were beautiful and bespoke of love which words could not express. The remains were interred in the Oakdale Cemeter. The bereaved husband and family have the sympathy of all in this exceedingly great affliction.

MILDRED EVELYN HUNTER
Funeral services for Mildred HUNTER, 86, of Oakdale, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 11, 1991, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Neligh. Pastor Ted DUBS and Pastor Ralph WENDT will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 10, at Hoepfinger-Beyer Funeral Home in Neligh. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phillip HART, Roger HANSON, Allan HANSON, Raymond GRAY, Randall NELSON and Alvin NELSON. Mildred Evelyn JENSEN, daughter of Martin and Minnie JENSEN, was born May 23, 1904 in Fremont. After the death of parents, she was raised by an aunt and uncle, Mary and Conrad ANDERSON, on a ranch in Hooker County. She attended the academy in Shelton from 1921-1923, where she studied voice and piano. On May 3, 1924, she married Ralph HUNTER and spent the next 18 years on the HUNTER farm east of Oakdale. They moved to a farm south of Oakdale in 1942. Mr HUNTER died in 1970, and Mrs. HUNTER moved into town in 1973. She was a member of the Neligh Seventh Day Adventist Church and a member of Cedar Creek Club. She remained active in community affairs as long as her health permitted. She sang at over 1,000 funerals over the years. Mrs HUNTER died Thursday, January 3, 1991, in Fairfield, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two children who were stillborn. Survivors include a sister, Dorothy HAFNER of Stetler, Alberta; the cousins with whom she was raised, Conrad ANDERSON of Twin Falls, Idaho, Mrs Lyle (Pearl) GILBERTSON and Mrs Ralph (Ruby) WENDT of Fairfield, Washington; and nieces and nephews.

PAUL RUSSEL HUNTER
Paul Russel HUNTER was born in the southeast part of Nebraska on November 11, 1906, and passed away at his home east of Oakdale on Wednesday, May 8, 1946, at the age of thirty-nine years, five months and twenty seven days. Mr. and Mrs. George HUNTER adopted him at the age of three and one half years in Boone County. When Paul was four years of age he moved to Antelope County with his foster parents where he attended the Oakdale School and spent the remainder of his life. On December 7, 1928, he was united in marriage to Eva BICKFORD. To his union three children were born: Doris Jeaneen HUNTER who passed away in infancy, and Ronald Gene HUNTER survive him. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife and two children, his foster parents Mr. and Mrs. George HUNTER, his foster brother Ralph HUNTER and foster sister Mrs. Harold R. PIERCE of Lincoln. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Friday afternoon with Rev. Dawson J. Park, officiating. Burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Sterling CARNES of Omaha, Don BICKFORD of Fremont, Mr. and Mrs. Willis MOON of Neligh, Mrs. Minnie TATRO of Geneva, Mr. and Mrs. Harold PIERCE of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. John HYDE of Norfolk.

RALPH WILLARD HUNTER
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 21, at the Methodist Church at Oakdale for Ralph W HUNTER of Oakdale who died December 19, 1970. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Connie J BUEHLER of Elgin and Elder A D STEARNS of Norfolk. Interment will be in the Oakdale Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Earl WAGNER, William MILLER, John JOHNSON, Henry WILGOCKI, Irven WAGNER, and Orville I SHERMAN. Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence E SHERMAN, Louis KINNAN, Lester WILKINSON, Joe GROSSERODE, Ivan KINNAN, Ralph KINNAN, Clyde M FIELDS, and Donald OFE. Ralph Willard HUNTER was born south of Oakdale on March 4, 1901. He spent all his life in the Oakdale community except for three years in Bremerton, Washington. When his father died in 1911 he and his sister made their home with an uncle and aunt, Mr and Mrs George HUNTER. On May 3, 1924 he was married to Miss Mildred Evelyn JENSEN at Council Bluffs, Iowa and to this union two children were born, both dying at birth. In 1942 he moved to a farm south of Oakdale where he spent the rest of his life. He graduated from Oakdale High School in 1920 and attended the fiftieth reunion of the class in May 1970. Survivors include his wife Mildred, one sister, Mrs Harold PIERCE of Lincoln and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

WILLIAM HENRY HUNTER
William Henry HUNTER was born on November 11, 1850 in Perry, Pennsylvania and died at Ontario, Kansas on June 16, 1909. He was married to Mrs Mary BRITTAIN in February 1872 and to them was born six children, five of who survive. Mrs HUNTER died November 19, 1896 and in March 7, 1906, he was married to Miss Louise CONGLETON of Holton, Kansas. Besides his children, Mrs Minnie TATRO of Geneva, Mrs Rose COWIN of Oakdale, E. H. HUNTER of Bremerton, Washington, Walter HUNTER of Seattle, Washington, George HUNTER of Loretto, he is survived by two stepchildren, Mrs E. A. LAWRENCE of Lincoln and William B. BRITTAIN of Deloit. Mr HUNTER became a resident of Antelope County in 1882. The remains were brought to Oakdale and funeral services were held Sunday at the Methodist Episcopal Church, Rev. H. B. TILLERY of Battle Creek officiating. Services at the grave were conducted by the Odd Fellows.
