MAJOL WINGATE HALSEY
Services for Majol WINGATE HALSEY of Chambers were held Thursday, September 21, 1989, from the United Methodis Church in Tilden with Rev. Brian KOTTAS and Rev. Carol JAMES officiating. Organist by Dolores KARABEL with duets by Robert KARABEL and Doris HORROCKS. Selections were "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "God Understands". Active pallbearers were Robert SCOTT, Ralph Fields, Clifford Lind, Milan Magwire, Robert Mahood, and Charles Zurcher. Honorary pallbearers were Art Miller, Henry Weber, Delmon Peck, Archie Kilmer and Elwin Osborn. Interment was in the Tilden City Cemetery in Tilden. Majol HALSEY, the daughter of Elmer and Rena (BARNES) HOLMES was born at Oakdale on May 23, 1916. Here she grew to womanhood and was Salutatorian of the Oakdale High School class of 1934. Major worked in Portland, Oregon, prior to her marriage to Robert Wingate on March 10, 1938 in Norfolk. They farmed southwest of Tilden until Bob’s death in 1972. Majol moved into Tilden in 1975. She was married to Eugene HALSEY on June 29, 1981, at Tilden. They made their home in Chambers and then returned to Tilden for 18 months and back to Chambers in 1984. She was a member of the Methodist Church for over 60 years, its ladies aid and the OSH Club. Majol died at her home in Chambers on the afternoon of September 18,1989. She was 73 years of age. She is survived by her husband, Eugene of Chambers, one son, Wayne WINGATE, and his wife Linda of Tilden, one stepson, Keith HALSEY and his wife, Hazel of Chambers, one sister, LaRose HUNTSMAN of Stockton, California, one foster brother, Walt RETZLAFF of Lincoln, 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, one daughter, Mrs Homer (Barbara) KING, one brother, Roy HOLMES, one sister, Wanda CARSTENSEN, and one grandson, Wayne HALSEY.

RUBY P. SHEPHARD HALSEY
Services for Mrs Grover HALSEY of Tilden were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 3 at the United Methodist Church at Tilden with the Rev. James A. STILLMAN officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Lloyd TIMPERLEY, Arnold EGGERS, Bennie BRANDT, Munsey WINGATE, William HAWK and Owen EVANS. Ruby P HALSEY, daughter of Mr and Mrs William SHEPHARD, was born October 23, 1888, four miles east of Elgin, where she grew to womanhood. She attended college at Platteville, Wisconsin and taught rural school in the Elgin area for a number of years. On March 23, 1932, she was united in marriage to Grover HALSEY at Hadar. They farmed northeast of Oakdale until retirement in 1968 when they moved into Tilden. Mrs HALSEY died March 31, 1976 at Manor Hall Nursing Home at Tilden. She was 87 years, 4 months and 8 days of age. Survivors include her husband and one niece, Mrs George (Dorothy) WAGNER of Platteville, Wisconsin. Her parents, one brother and two sisters preceded her in death.
