CELIA ADELL HALLSTED

Funeral services for Celia Adell HALLSTED were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 19 at the Church of Christ in Oakdale with Alvin SCHWARTING and Rev. Gary MAIN officiating. Music was provided by Alvin and Zella SCHWARTING, vocalist, accompanied by Lori HUGHES, piano. Interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Mike and Jim EATHERTON, Denny SONNENFELT, Kriss SANDERSON, Robert STONE, and Gene OLNES serving as pallbearers. Huffman’s Brooks Chapel was in charge of the arrangements. She was born the daughter of Peter C. and Emma (WILSON) GALLOWAY at McCann on May 25, 1901 and died at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh on May 16, 1992 at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 21 days. She grew up at McCann, attended rural schools and Gates Academy in Neligh. On May 1, 1920, she was married to Frank SONNENFELT. The couple farmed and ranched in Cherry County. In 1977 she married Lee HALLSTED in Whitney. In 1981 she moved to Oakdale where she resided until her death. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women at Whitney. She was also a member of the American War Dads Auxiliary at Crawford. Survivors include two sons, Cecil SONNENFELT of Grand Island and Richard SONNENFELT of Oakdale; four daughters, Mrs Harold (Betty) SANDERSON, Mrs Cliff (Dorothy) SOTO and Mrs Ruth HOLLAND, all of Oakdale, and Mrs Bud (Bonnie) EATHERTON of Grand Island; 20 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; one brother, Ted GALLOWAY of Hot Springs, South Dakota; one sister, Mrs Joyce STONE of Casper, Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank SONNENFELT; son, Robert SONNENFELT; daughter, Connie SONNENFELT and three grandsons.
