Claudia V GALLAWAY
Abridged: A T and E G
Gallaway were summoned to Omaha last Friday afternoon by a message announcing
the sudden death of their sister, Claudia V Gallaway, at her home in that city
by drinking carbolic acid. Despondency over the death of her brother, Emmett, a
month ago, from appendicitis was attributed as the reason for the deed. Efforts
to counteract the effect of the acid were without result. The deceased was well
known in Oakdale and Neligh. Her young womanhood was spent at the latter place
and she was a former teacher in the Oakdale public schools. At both places she
had numerous friends to whom the new of her untimely death came with shocking
force. Miss Gallaway died on February 25, 1916. The remains were brought to
Oakdale Sunday afternoon and after a brief funeral service at the home of A T
Gallaway, conducted by Rev. Charles R McKean of the Presbyterian Church,
interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.
