Thomas E. Fawcett, 1858-1924
Thomas Fawcett died at his home in Elgin early Monday morning after an illness of several weeks duration, death being due to heart trouble. Mr. Fawcett was born in Benton, Wisconsin, on May 15, 1858.
On October 14, 1885, he was united in marriage to Miss Jane Hird, who passed away in 1888, leaving a baby daughter about two years old, who joined her mother in death on June 12, 1900.
On March 6, 1889, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Brown and to this union was born one daughter, Eva, now Mr. W. C. Barker of Elgin, Nebraska.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, one daughter, one grandchild, three brothers and one sister, besides a number of distant relatives and a host of friends.
Mr. Fawcett lived in the vicinity of Elgin for about 30 years most of which time was spent on his farm, 2 miles northeast of town. About ten years ago, he moved to town and has lived in town almost continually since that time.
He was a highly respected citizen; a man of superior judgement and one whom we all were proud to acknowledge as a friend. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in charge of Rev. N.A. Martin.
