Obituary-The Oakdale Sentinel-October 1, 1892

ELWOOD

The baby of Mr and Mrs W. A. ELWOOD, aged 2 months and 12 days died on Tuesday morning of chlorea infantum. The remains were interred in the Oakdale Cemetery on Wednesday. The services were held at the house, Rev. J. CREWS, officiating. The bereaved have the sympathy of the entire community.

DR. A. B. ELWOOD

The remains of Dr. ELWOOD, a brother of O. R. and W. A. ELWOOD, who died at Excelsior Springs, Missouri on November 11, 1894 were brought to Oakdale on the evening passenger train on Wednesday and the funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church on Thursday at 1 p.m. The remains were interred in the Oakdale Cemetery.


Obituary-The Oakdale Sentinel-December 16, 1893

ELSIE DUFF ELWOOD

Elsie DUFF was born in Virginia, May 3, 1819 and died at her home in Oakdale, Nebraska, December 13, 1893. When twelve years of age she moved to Ohio and eight years later she was married to Dr. Cyrus ELWOOD. There were born of their union seven children, four sons and three daughters, of whom three sons and one daughter survive. In 1868 the family moved to Nebraska and a year later her husband, Dr ELWOOD died. In 1872 Mrs ELWOOD made her home in Oakdale where she resided until her death. The deceased was a fond mother and a Christian woman. Surrounded by near and dear ones she died a peaceful and happy death expressing during her last hours her gladness to "go home to God." The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the Presbyterian Church of which the deceased was one of the first members where the remains were taken and where a large concourse of sympathizing friends gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to the departed one. The services were conducted by Rev. V. F. PARTCH, and all that was mortal of Mrs ELWOOD was laid to rest in the oakdale Cemetery. The bereaved has the sympathy of the entire community.

MARY E. HARRIS ELWOOD

Abridged: Mrs Mary E HARRIS ELWOOD, wife of Dr. A. B. ELWOOD, deceased, died at her home in Dunlap, Kansas, June 28, 1911. She was born in South Bend, Indiana on April 24, 1843. She was married to A. B. ELWOOD in Council Bluffs, Iowa, December 24, 1868. They had two children, Laura Adell ELWOOD and an infant son who drowned. In 1871, they came to Antelope County. The remains were brought to Oakdale for burial beside her husband in the Oakdale Cemetery. Brief services were held at the grave. Immediate relatives are Laura Adell KENNATH, her daughter of Dunlap, Kansas, brother Albert HARRIS of South Bend, Indiana and sister Hannah COOPER of Herman, Nebraska and Jessie HICK of Portland, Oregon.


Obituary-The Oakdale Sentinel-January 19, 1901

DR. R. P. ELWOOD

R. P. ELWOOD died at his home in Oakdale on Tuesday, January 17, 1901 at an advanced age. He had been in poor health for several years and the end was possibly hastened by an attack of la grippe. He leaves a wife. The funeral will be held on Saturday with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery.
