Abridged Obituary - The Oakdale Sentinel-February 10, 1938
ARTHUR EDWARDS
Arthur EDWARDS was born at Elysian, Minnesota, on October 8, 1875, and died at his home Saturday, February 5, 1938 at the age of sixty-two years, three months and twenty-seven days. His parents settled on a homestead four miles southeast of Elgin, Nebraska and with exception of a short stay in Oklahoma the deceased has spent his entire life in this part of Nebraska. In May 1914 he was united in marriage to Miss Kate BATTERSON. Four children came to bless the home, all of whom survive. Vonda EDWARDS, Katherine EDWARDS, Arthur EDWARDS and Helen EDWARDS, one grandchild; three brothers, Fred EDWARDS of Chicago, IL., Leslie EDWARDS of Primrose, Nebraska, and Howard EDWARDS of Mitchell, Nebraska; three sisters, Mrs. Evaline ROBINS, Mrs. Agnes LaMONTE. and Mrs. Rosa KARLS all of Mitchell. Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church in Oakdale Monday afternoon with burial being made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

KATE HOPE BATTERSON EDWARDS
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 23 at 2 p.m. for Mrs Kate H EDWARDS at the Neligh Congregational Church with the Rev. Jerrold GROVES officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery with William JAMES, Fred Spencer, J. C. PHILBEN, Larry WISCH, Ed LOEWE, and J RADER serving as pallbearers. Kate H EDWARDS, daughter of Mr and Mrs Aaron BATTERSON, was born July 22, 1890 at Weeping Water and died Wednesday, January 20, 1965 at Antelope Memorial Hospital at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 29 days. As a young girl she moved to Antelope County with her parents and they settled on a farm west of Tilden. Her mother died when she was 13 years old and she then kept house for her father until his death. On May 13, 1914 she was married to Arthur "Ike" EDWARDS at Neligh and to this union four children were born. After the death of her husband in 1938 Mrs EDWARDS moved her family to Neligh where she resided until her death. Mrs EDWARDS was a member of the congregational Church of Neligh, Woman’s Relief Corps, American Legion Auxiliary, Women’s Fellowship and Dorcas Society of the Church. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs Vernard (Helen) HOSCHELT of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs John (Kathryn) HEINZ of El Cajon, California and Mrs Frank (Vonda) GRIFFITH of Neligh, 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, four brothers and a son, Arthur.
