AMOS G. ECKLEY

Funeral services for Amos G. Eckley, 87, of Neligh will be held on Friday, February 4, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoepfinger-Beyer Funeral Home in Neligh with Mr Don HOOSER officiating. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery with Douglas RAYMOND, Curtis KISSIRE, Leroy PEYTON, Don GLOE, Gerald SHINEMAN and Rudolph HANSSEN as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Vern MCKAY, Orville MILLER, Elmer LINDAHL, and Albert STOFFER. Amos G. ECKLEY, son of Isaac and Emily GUMB ECKLEY, was born November 22, 1895 near Chambers and died at his home in Neligh on January 31, 1983. He attended rural schools in the Chambers community and continued to live in Holt County until moving to Neligh about 50 years ago. He served in the U. S. Army in World War I from July of 1918 until April of 1919. On February 17, 1931, he married Muriel M. CURTIS at David City. He worked much of his adult life as a blacksmith. He was a member of the World Wide Church of God. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs Orville (Donna) MICHAELSON of Dallas, Oregon and two grandsons, Darcy and Reginald MICHAELSON.

MURIEL ECKLEY

Memorial services for Muriel Eckley, 86, of Dallas, Oregon, formerly of Neligh, were held Monday, May 16 at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical United Brethren Church of North America in Dallas. Graveside services will be conducted Friday, May 27 at 2 p.m. at the Oakdale Cemetery. Mrs Eckley, daughter of Harry and Daisy Prendle Curtis, was born November 20, 1901, at Elgin, and died May 13, 1988 in Dallas, Oregon. On February 17, 1931, she married Amos Grant Eckley at David City. This couple lived in the Neligh and Elgin areas until 1983 when Mr Eckley died and Mrs Eckley moved to Oregon. Mrs Eckley cooked for the Rotary and Lions clubs in this area. She was a member and Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Donna Michaelson of Dallas, Oregon; two grandsons; and one sister, Hazel Sprague of Des Moines, Washington.
