OTTO DURRE
Monday forenoon, the lifeless body of Otto DURRE was found by James MARTINDALE at the former's home about five miles south of Oakdale. Beside the body was a shotgun with an exploded shell in the chamber. It was plain that DURRE had committed suicide. He had placed the muzzle of the gun on his cheek and the charge mangled his features to the extent that he was unrecognizable. The entire top of his head was blown off. The tragedy occurred some time between Friday night and the time of fmding the body. Worry over the condition of a brother is thought to have been the cause. Mr. DURRE came here from Stanton about a year ago and purchased the land upon which he resided. He was divorced from his wife and was living alone. Mr. DURRE stood well in the community. He was industrious and prosperous. The entire community was shocked by his untimely death and the sincere sympathy of all goes out to the bereaved relatives. Burial was made yesterday, January 10, in the Oakdale Cemetery. Official death date was established as January 7, 1918.
