Albert CURTIS

Abridged: Albert Curtis died Tuesday, December 5, 1916, at his home west of Oakdale. He had been in poor health for the past two years. Albert Curtis was born 12 mile south of Kalamazoo, Michigan on October 23, 1836. In his early manhood he worked on a farm and taught an occasional term of school. During his residence in Antelope County, he taught several terms of school. On November 23, 1862, he was married to Addie Brownell at Summerville, Michigan. On March 4, 1880, Mr Curtis came to Antelope County and the same month made homestead entry on the east half of the northwest quarter and the north half of the northeast quarter of section 18, township 24, range 6, five miles west of Oakdale. Mrs Curtis and the children came three months later. Three children were born to Mr and Mrs Curtis, William and Mary Belle, both deceased, and J. Harry. Albert was best known by the name "Uncle Bert". Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the West Cedar Valley Church. Interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

DAISY PRINDLE CURTIS

Abridged: Daisy PRINDLE CURTIS was born in Merrich County, Nebraska January 17, 1879. She was one of nine children, three of who survive, Mrs F. H. LEONARD and Mrs Arthur WILSON of Mountain Grove, Missouri and Mrs L. E. HABERSTRAB of Neligh. Daisy lived in a foster home until she married Henry CURTIS on December 28, 1898. Six children were born to them. Daisy died on May 30, 1912. She leaves her husband and five children. Rev. W. H. ROMINGER of Elgin conducted funeral services. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery.

ESTELLA CURTIS

Died July 21, 1887, Estella, daughter of Mr and Mrs John CURTIS, aged 10 years, 5 months and 7 days. Funeral Friday from the M. E. Church, Rev. THOMPSEN officiating. For months, Stella has suffered from a complication of diseases which baffled the physician. The patience with which she has borne the trials and aches of the sick room has been a wonder to both friends and neighbors. Little child though she was, her trust was immovalily fixed on the One who said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not."

The infant child of Mr and Mrs Harry CURTIS of Elgin died today, December 22, 1911 and will be buried in the Oakdale Cemetery tomorrow.

James Harry CURTIS

J. H. Curtis, 79, died at Neligh, December 19, 1951. Funeral services were held Sunday with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery. He was the son of Bert and Mary Curtis, pioneer settlers in the West Cedar Valley community. His wife preceded him in death in May 1912.

MARY ADDIE BROWNELL CURTIS

Abridged: Following a brief illness, Mrs Addie CURTIS died yesterday, May 24, 1923, at her home west of Oakdale. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 26 at the West Cedar Valley Church and interment will be made in the family lot in the Oakdale Cemetery. Mary Addie BROWNELL was born in Erie County, Pennsylvania, March 11, 1847. She was united in marriage to Albert CURTIS at Summerville, Michigan, November 23, 1862. They began married life on a farm two miles west of Summerville and later removed to Young’s Prairie. From this point they removed to Niles, Michigan. On March 4, 1880, Mr CURTIS came to Oakdale and soon thereafter made homestead entry on a quarter section fives miles west of Oakdale. Mrs CURTIS and the children came three months later. Mrs CURTIS was the mother of three children, William, Mary Belle and J. Harry, of whom the latter survives. Mr CURTIS died December 8, 1916.
