CLARENCE WILLIAM COULTHARD

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 10 at Huffman’s Brooks Chapel in Elgin for Clarence William COULTHARD with the Rev. Clarence E. DAVIS and the Rev. Connie J. BEUHLER officiating. Interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Ed RACHEL, Frank DINSLAGE, Duane BLY, Walter ROBERTSON, Erwin MENNEBROKER and William WIRGES serving as pallbearers. American Legion Post 229 was in charge of military graveside rites. Clarence William COULTHARD was born October 12, 1895 at New Diggings, Wisconsin, the son of John Wilson and Dorothy BROWN COULTHARD, and died at the veterans hospital at Grand Island on May 7, 1973. At the age of five he came to the Elgin community with his parents and received his education in the Elgin public school. After returning from overseas duty in World War I, he was united in marriage with Winnie Jane COOPER of Oakdale on October 8, 1919. They moved to a farm northeast of Elgin, where he farmed until his retirement. He was involved in community affairs serving as county supervisor for eight years and participated on both the township boar and the District 41 school board. He was a member of the Oakdale United Methodist Church and the Elgin American Legion 229. Survivors include one daughter, Lettie Jean COULTHARD of Elgin, one son Clare and two granddaughters of Chambers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie, parents, one sister, Mrs Bessie LARSEN and two brothers, Orville and LaVern COULTHARD.

DOROTHY BROWN COULTHARD

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 20 at the Milner and O’Flaherity Funeral Home in Benton, Wisconsin by the Rev. W. W. VASEY for Mrs Dorothy BROWN COULTHARD, former Elgin woman. The remains were forwarded to Elgin for final rites at the Brooks Chapel Tuesday, February 23 with the Rev T. J. SCAHILL in charge. Interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Matt WYLIE, John FLAHERTY, Merlin FAUBEL, Ivan CARLSON, Elmer WELBURN and Warren ROBERTSON serving as pallbearers. Dorothy BROWN COULTHARD was born at New Diggings, Wisconsin August 7, 1867 to Amos and Anne BROWN and died February 18, 1960 at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 11 days in Hazel Green Hospital at Benton, Wisconsin. She was married to John COULTHARD of New Diggings, Wisconsin November 12, 1890 and to this union one daughter and three sons were born. They resided at New Diggings until 1901 when they moved to a farm near Elgin. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs Will LARSEN of Benton, Wisconsin, one son, Clarence of Elgin, ten grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sons, Orville and LaVerne.

JOHN WILSON COULTHARD

Abridged: John Wilson COULTHARD, the son of Joseph and Bessie COULTHARD, was born in New Diggins, WI on August 4, 1856 and departed this life on Wednesday, April 7, 1937. On November 12,1890 he was married to Dorothy BROWN and they made their home in New Diggins until 1901, when they came to Nebraska and located on a farm 4 miles from Elgin. During his life he was a fair and honest man in his dealings with others and a loving father and devoted husband. To this union were born four children, three sons and one daughter, Mrs Will LARSON of Benton, WI, Orville H and Laverne of Hope, ID and Clarence W of Elgin. All survive him. Left to mourn him are his wife, one brother, Jonathan of Galena, IL. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. He also leaves 10 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, April 11, and burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Winnie Jane (COOPER) COULTHARD

Abridged: Funeral services were held Sunday at the Methodist Church for Mrs Clarence Coulthard. Interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. Winnie Jane Cooper Coulthard, daughter of Ella and Frank Cooper, was born in Oakdale, March 7, 1896 and departed this life April 16, 1953. She lost her parents at a very early age and went to live with her aunt, Miss Lettie Cooper of Oakdale. When Lettie died, Mrs Jennie Campbell came to care for her. She graduated from Oakdale High School in 1914 and attended Normal School at Wayne. On October 8, 1919, she was united in marriage to Clarence Coulthard of Elgin. They have since made their home on the family farm southwest of Oakdale. To this union two children were born. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Clarence, her daughter, Lettie Jean, at home, a son, Clare and daughter-in-law, Elsie of Lynch, a mother-in-law, Mrs Dorothy Coulthard of Elgin, two brothers, Roy of Elkhorn, MO and Floyd Cooper, five nephews and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
