EBED M BURKE

Abridged: Ebed M BURKE, an old and respected citizen of Oakdale, died last Friday, October 5, 1900 after many months of intense suffering. He was born in Erie County, New York on December 26, 1837. He was married to Emiline C SHIATT, June 22, 1801. Five children were born to them, three of whom with their mother, mourn their loss. After the civil war, he moved to Iowa in 1868. Mr BURKE was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1886.

Emaline Cynthia BURKE

The funeral of Mrs E C Burke who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs H L Hussong, at Astoria, Oregon, December 27, 1919, was held at the M. E. Church in Oakdale yesterday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. C. L. Myers, D D. There was a large attendance of old friends. Burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery beside the remains of her husband. Emaline Cynthia Burke was born in New York, February 13, 1835. With her husband and daughters she settled in the Clay Ridge neighborhood in the early days of Antelope County, later removing to Oakdale where she was prominent in the life of the community for a number of years. She united with the Methodist Church early in life and remained a devout member until her death. She was the mother of five daughters, three of whom survive: Mrs E. C. Morgan of Pueblo, CO, Mrs H. L. Hussong of Astoria, OR, Mrs S. A. Hayworth of Danville, IN. Mrs Hayworth and Mrs Hussong accompanied the remains of their mother to Oakdale. Sickness prevented Mrs Morgan from being present at the funeral.
