Charles A. BENNETT
Funeral services for Charles A. Bennett of Neligh were held Saturday, Jan 26 at 2 pm at the Grace Lutheran Church in Neligh. The Rev. Marion Von Rentsell officiated at the services with burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh. pallbearers were Van Jacobsen, Wayne Olmsted, Duane Knievel, Cloyd Kilpatrick, Jr., Bill L. Knievel and J C Carpenter.
Charles Alonzo Bennett, son of Charlie H. Bennett and Ruth Huston Bennett, was born at Neligh on April 8, 1927, and died as a result of a motor vehicle accident north of Lyons on January 23 at the age of 52 years, 9 months and 15 days. Nearly his entire life was spent in the Neligh vicinity. On March 3, 1945 he enlisted in the Navy and received his training at San Diego, Calif. During his leave from this base he was united in marriage to Leora Sanne at Concordia Lutheran Church in Clearwater. He then was assigned to the aircraft carrier, the USS Windham Bay, and transported troops and supplies in the Asiatic Pacific Area. He received his discharge from the Navy at Bremerton, Wash., on May 13, 1946. He farmed and raised turkeys north of Neligh for many years. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin on April 24, 1947, and was confirmed on April 27. He was on the building committee of Grace Lutheran Church in Neligh when the present church building was erected. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife, Leora of Neligh; two sons, Robert of Neligh and Stanley of Milford; and daughter Mrs. Ralph (Kathy) Hochart of Neligh, his mother, Ruth Bennett of Neligh, three Sisters, Mrs. Jim (Dorothy) Tinsley of Clearwater, Mrs. Lyle (Lena) Miller of Neligh and Mrs. Leonard (Gladys) Bennett of Elgin and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father in September of 1966 and one sister, Mrs. Bud (Darlene) Dietz in November, 1976.

Charley H. BENNETT
Funeral services for Charley H. Bennett of Oakdale will be held Thursday, Sep, 22 at 2 pm at the Neligh Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Otto Praeuner officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery with Gene Huston, Richard Huston, Leonard Bennett, David Huston, Frank Bennett and Gary Bennett serving as pallbearers. Charley H. Bennett, son of George and Minnie Bennett, was born June 10, 1896 at Brownville and died Saturday, September 17 at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 7 days in California where he and Mrs. Bennett had gone to visit at the Earl Huston and Edwin Wink homes. At an early age he came to Antelope county with his parents. On January 7, 1920 he was married to Ruth Huston at Neligh and to this union five children were born. They lived in the Meadow Grove vicinity about two years following their marriage and then farmed in the Neligh, Elgin and Clearwater areas until they retired and moved to Oakdale about six years ago. Prior to his retirement he served as the Neligh night police. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. James (Dorothy) Tinsley of Ewing, Mrs. Lyle (Lena) Miller of Neligh, Mrs. Leonard (Gladys) Bennett of Elgin and Mrs. Bud (Darlene) Dietz of Oakdale, one son Charles A. of Neligh; 15 Grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters and seven brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Obituary; Ruth Leona HUSTON BENNETT
Ruth Leona Huston Bennett was born January 4, 1902, to Mr and Mrs. Alonzo and Lena (Wyne) Huston at Peru, Nebraska. She attended school at Peru, NE and on Mar 8, 1919, she moved to Neligh, NE with her family. On Jan 7, 1920, she was married to Charles H. Bennett at her parents home west of Neligh by Rev. Raymond Rush. This union was blessed with five children; Dorothy, Lena, Gladys, Charles and Darlene. She and her husband farmed and lived north of Meadow Grove for 3 years, moving back to Neligh in February 1923. She lived the rest of her life around Neligh until she retired and moved to Pioneer Homes in 1969. Ruth joined St. Paul Lutheran Church and was confirmed on April 10, 1955, by Rev. Paul Lohnes. She later joined Grace Lutheran Church and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Antelope County Fair Board and had also served as past President and Secretary of the Neligh Women's Club. Ruth was a Midwife in the 1930's and 1940's. She worked at the Penny's store several years and at the school lunch program in Neligh. Ruth died at the Antelope Memorial Hospital on February 25, 1994 at the age of 92 years and 21 days.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Charles, Jr., and daughter Darlene Dietz, one grandson Wayne Miller, and two brothers, Gayland Huston of Idaho and Ralph Huston of Neligh.
Ruth is survived by three daughters and their husbands; Jim and Dorothy Tinsley of Clearwater, Lyle and Lena Miller of Neligh and Leonard and Gladys Bennett of Elgin. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law Mrs. Leora Bennett of Neligh, by 14 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 2 step great grand children, 7 great great grandchildren, 1 step great great grandchild, by three brothers, Richard Huston of Neligh, Roger Huston of Kinmberly, Idaho, and Earl Huston of Middletown, CA., three sister, Louise Klabenes of Clearwater and Mary Fink of Neligh and Lena Hardester of Middletown, California, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was a loving, caring person and will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Obit: newspaper clipping (date and source not identified).
