LILLIAN A BEACH

Funeral services for Lillian A BEACH, 91, of Oakdale, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 3, 1992 at the United Methodist Church in Oakdale. The Rev. Gary MAIN officiated. Interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Louis (Dick) KINNAN, Jay —lerstoawe, Robert BEACH, Kenneth BEACH, Don BEACH, and Larry BEACH. She died Monday, March 30, 1992 at the Neligh Nursing Center. She was born May 5, 1900, at Charter Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Minnie Mae (SMITH) COLE. She attended school at Dennison, Iowa. On August 2, 1919, she married Pearl Carl Buck at Atkinson. They were involved in farming and the hay business at Stuart and then moved to Bassett, where he was employed by Chicago and North Western Railroad. They moved to Oakdale in 1934. Her husband died in 1944. She continued to live at Oakdale until moving to Norfolk in 1989. She was a member of the Oakdale United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women for more than 50 years. She also was a member of the Oakdale American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include sons, Morton of Norfolk, Robert of Fort Worth, Texas, and Carl of Bookings, Oregon; daughters, Grace SCHLAICK of Seaside, California and Eva HARTIGAN of Durate, California; daughter-in-law, Belva BEACH of Atkinson; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Don; two brothers, Martin COLE and Omar COLE; and one sister, Irene SUMPTER.

PEARL CARL BEACH

Pearl Carl BEACH, 50, died of a heart attack at the Tilden hospital Friday afternoon. He had been taken to the hospital the week before suffering from acute bronchial trouble. Mr. Beach was an employee of the C. & N. W. R. R. and a veteran of World War I. Pearl Carl Beach was born at Newport, Nebraska, on June 4, 1893, and passed away April 28, 1944, at the age of fifty years, eight months and twenty-four days. He was the son of Benjamin BEACH and Bertha Beach. He was married to Lillian Arlene COLE on August 2, 1919, at Denison, Iowa. They moved to Stuart where they lived a short time, later coming to Oakdale in 1934 where they have since resided. To this union six children were born, two daughters and four sons. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, his children: Mrs. Grace SCHLICK, Monterey, Ca., Mrs. Eva HARTIGAN, Wichita, KS. 1st SGT Robert P. BEACH and PVT Carl BEACH, Donald BEACH and Morton BEACH at home; sisters Mrs. Mae CROCKER, Laguna Beach, Ca., Mrs. Echo BALL, Bartlett, two brothers Ernie D. BEACH of Salem, Or., and his twin brother, Earl BEACH of West Point, three grandchildren and many friends. His parents and one brother preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church by the pastor Rev. C. W. Smith, assisted by Rev. O. E. Hall of the United Brethren church. The American Legion had charge of the services at the Oakdale cemetery, where burial was made with military honors.
