CLYDE VERNON BASKETT
Abridged: Clyde Vernon BASKETT was born April 18, 1887 at Guston, Kentucky and died June 19, 1926 at Oakdale, age 39 years, 2 months and 1 day. With his parents he came west early in life and spent some years in Texas later coming to Nebraska. He began railroad work when about 16 years old and followed it until last November when he became ill. He was married to Pearle Betty WARWICK on October 9, 1922 and they have made their home in Oakdale since then. He leaves to mourn him, his wife, father, J R. BASKETT, a number of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Monday afternoon, June 21 and burial was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

HULDA SHAIN BASKETT
Mrs J. R. BASKETT, nee Miss Hulda SHAIN, was born on October 14, 1860 at Brandenburg, Kentucky. Here she lived with her parents until her marriage to Mr BASKETT. They were married at the home of the bride’s parents on November 4, 1880 and made their home in Kentucky for several years. To them were born two sons, the elder David, now deceased and Clyde of Oakdale, Nebraska. Mr and Mrs BASKETT with their two sons came to Nebraska about 1897 locating on a farm near Elgin and in 1902 moved to this village. Here Mr BASKETT engaged in the restaurant business and after operated a livery and feed barn. For the past five or six years both Mr and Mrs baskett have been in ill health, and on May 10, 1924 at 8:30 Mrs BASKETT passed away. The deceased leaves beside the husband and son, one brother, Mr T. H. SHAIN of Neligh, six sisters, Mrs C. C. STITH of Ekron, Kentucky, Mrs Jno. ROBINSON and Mrs Leo GETTINGET of Elgin, Mrs J. F. DEACON of University Place, Nebraska, Mrs LANSON of Casper, Wyoming, and Eugene BARKDAL of Neligh. And two grandchildren, Magel and Walter. Mrs BASKETT was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a faithful worker in the Aid Society. She was also a member of Rebekah Lodge No 98. The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church May 13, 9124, conducted by the Rev. C. L. MEYERS, and interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.
