Death of Mrs. Barnes

Sarah Ann Port Barnes, was born in the county of Kent,
England on August 17, 1825, and died in Goldendale, Wash.,
December 18, 1910, aged 85 years,4 months, and 1 day.
She came to America in early life, and was married to Mr.
Harry Barnes in Iowa about the year 1845. To them were born
three sons and two daughters, all of whom are still living,
with the exception of one son. Her husband died in 1893.
Mrs. Barnes has lived in the states of Iowa, Nebraska, and
Washington, having come to Klickitat county with her son,
J.H. Barnes about three years ago. When but a girl she
converted and though she was brought up in the Church of
England, early joined the Methodist church of which she was
a member at death. She was a devout, patient, unselfish
Christian, always considerate of the comforts of others, and
unwilling to cause trouble. Like a shock of corn fully
ripe, she has come to the close of a long and useful
Christian career, and rests in the bosom of her loving
Savior. The funeral was held from the M.E. church on Monday
afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. DeWeese, preaching the sermon,
and interment was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
