JULIA ALBERTINE HOWARD ALEXANDER

Julia Albertine Howard was born June 22,1851, in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. She lived in the county of her birth until 1865, when her family moved to Tomah, in the western part of the state, and located upon a farm which she afterward owned. After the death of her father, who served through the Civil War in the 4th Wisconsin Infantry, and her mother who survived her husband several years, she with her family came to Oakdale in 1899, where she has since lived, leaving this life for the better one, April 30, 1923. She joined the M. E. Church when a girl and her membership was life long. She was married to William ALEXANDER, March 19, 1879, and to them were born four children; Harry of Des Moines, Iowa, Grace of Denver, Colorado, Celestine of Oakdale and Luther of San Diego, California, all of whom are here except Luther. She also leaves two brothers, E. D. HOWARD of Warren, Wisconsin and John of Estacada, Oregon. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon, May 3, at the M. E. Church, conducted by Rev. C. L. Meyers and interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Abridged: William ALEXANDER was born in Troy, Wisconsin, September 25, 1844 and died in Plainview, Nebraska, on August 23, 1930. He was the eldest of nine children, two whom survive, a brother and a sister in Wisconsin. At the age of 16, he enlisted in Company C, Eleventh Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry and was sent south and fought four years in the Civil War, losing his right arm. He was married March 19, 1879 to Julia A. Howard and to this union there were four children: Harry of Des Moines, IA; Mrs Grace Eberly of California; Mrs Celestine Boldt, of Plainview, Nebr.; and Luther of Escandido, CA. Mr. Alexander came to Oakdale in 1899. Besides the four children, he leaves eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. His wife preceded him in death. The funeral services were held from the Methodist Church in Oakdale August 25, and burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery.
