Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 7, 1992 at the Marshall-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden for Edna Mae ADAMS, 89, of Coarsegold, California. She died June 29, 1992 in Fresno, California. Rev. Gary MAIN officiated and burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Bob COOLEY, Aner ANDERSON, David DECKERT, Gerald ADAMS, Melvin MARSH and Charles HARLAN. She was born to Ulysses and Lydia (SENTERS) HOLMES in Oakdale on August 5, 1902. She attended school in Oakdale and on December 24, 1919, she married Lawrence ADAMS in Neligh. The couple farmed north of Oakdale from 1925 until 1943 when they moved to Southgate, California where they were both employed in a defense plant. Her husband died in 1984. She moved to Coarsegold, California in 1990 to make her home with her daughters. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs Robert (Thelma) COOLEY, Oakdale; Yvonne KELLERSTRASS and Mrs Roland (Marilyn) STEVENS, both of Coarsegold, California; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter, six brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services for Enos ADAMS of Neligh were held Saturday, January 12, at 11 a.m. of the United Methodist Church in Neligh. The Rev. Richard ODGERS officiated at the services with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert E ADAMS, Barry MARSH, David DECKER, Mark VERPLANK, Tedd ADAMS and Steven ADAMS. Eons ADAMS, son of William and Jan ADAMS was born in Huggins, Missouri on May 1, 1895 and died Wednesday, January 9, 1980 at Keahaven Nursing Home in Neligh at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 9 days. He came to Nebraska in a covered wagon with his parents in 1896, settling in the Tilden area and later moved to Oakdale where he received his schooling. In 1916 he was united in marriage to Murl BEER. They farmed in the Oakdale vicinity until 1933 when they moved to a farm east of Neligh. In 1962 they retired to a home in Neligh. Survivors include three sons, Melvin of Sidney, Robert and Gerald of Neligh; one daughter, Mrs Melvin (Ruth) MARSH of Neligh, four brothers, Lawrence, John and Clifford of Los Angeles, California, and Victor of Billingham, Washington, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in February 1978, one son Gene; two brothers and one sister.

ABRIDGED: Ida J THORNBURG, daughter of William and Elizabeth THORNBURG, was born at Winterset, Iowa, February 14, 1864. Here she spent her childhood, attended school and grew to young womanhood. During the latter 80's she came to Oakdale and engaged in the business of dressmaking. In 1890 she was married to George H ADAMS, at the home her uncle, G. W. THOR_NBURG, in Oakdale. With her husband she removed to Colorado and later to Glasgow, Montana where she resided for twelve years. Upon the death of her mother, she returned to Winterset to care for her aged father and resided there for one year when she came to Oakdale to keep house for her uncle. On Easter Sunday she suffered an attack of the grippe. On May 14, she was taken to Norfolk for treatment at the Hospital but secured no relief and failed gradually until her death on Sunday, May 21, 1917. She was the mother of two children, Mrs. Helen M HAUGE of Glasgow, Montana and Robert S. ADAMS of Omaha. She is also survived by three brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were held at the home of G. W. THORNBURG on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. F. STEINER, pastor of the Methodist Church and interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery. Relatives present from a distance were Thomas TEDFORD and George TEDFORD and family of Newman Grove, Mrs. Frank MARTIN and son, Ernest of Clay Ridge, Mr. and Mrs. S. SULLIVAN of the Star, Mrs. Dot PLETCHER of Norfolk, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. CALDWELL and children of Chadron.

Graveside services for Lawrence B. ADAMS, 87, of South Gate, California, formerly of Oakdale, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday April 23 in the Oakdale Cemetery. A prayer service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Marshall-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden with Alvin SCHWARTING officiating. The body will lie in state at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Funeral services for ADAMS were conducted in California. Lawrence B. ADAMS, son of William and Sarah Jane ADAMS, was born August 20, 1896, at Mountain Home, Missouri and died April 15, 1984 at his home in California. He came to Antelope County in 1896 in a covered wagon with his family. ADAMS attended Star School south of Oakdale. On December 24, 1919, he married EDNA HOLMES. This couple celebrated their sixty-fourth anniversary in December. The ADAMS's farmed north of Oakdale from 1925 until 1943, when they moved to California. In California, Adams worked for Lockheed Aircraft and for Ace Foundry. He retired in 1964. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and an infant daughter. Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Mrs Robert (Thelma) COOLEY of Oakdale, Mrs Leonard (Yvonne) KELLERSTRASS of Lakewood, California, and Mrs Roland (Marilyn) STEVENS of Coarsegold, California, three brothers, Victor of Bellingham, Washington, John of Pasadena, California, and Clifford of Anaheim, California, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Abridged: Funeral services were held for Cindy Faye Adams, 6 years old, who was fatally injured in a fall while playing in a corncrib. The youngster suffered a brain concussion and was taken to the Creighton hospital where she died. She is survived by her parents, one sister, Jane; two brothers, Scotty and Ross, and her grandparents, Mr and Mrs Perry Adams and Mr and Mrs Claus Knuth.

Funeral services for Mrs Leo ADAMS were held Tuesday, March 30 at 2 p.m. at the Oakdale Methodist Church with the Rev. Willis TAPLIN officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery with Donald OBERSHAW, Howard HAILE, Harold MILLER, Ivan KINNAN, Francis SONNENFELT, and Paul SONNENFELT serving as pallbearers. Mrs Mary F PAYNE ADAMS, daughter of William and Roseabella PAYNE, was born August 20, 1887 in Oakdale and died at the Tilden Community Hospital Saturday, March 27, 1965, at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 7 days. She spent her entire life in Oakdale. On June 23, 1909 she was married to Leo ADAMS and to this union one son was born. Survivors include her husband, son, Melvin of Flint, Michigan, nine grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Mrs Frank PAYNE of Neligh and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Murl R ADAMS of Neligh were held at 3 p.m. Monday, February 27 at the United Methodist Church in Neligh. The Rev. Richard V odgers officiated at the services and burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Barry MARSH, Steven ADAMS, Todd ADAMS, David DECKER, Mark VERPLANK and Robert ADAMS. Honorary pallbearers were Henry HANSEN, B. C. LORENZEN, Hans JENSEN, Carl BERRY, Ernest HOPKINS, and Carl LORENZEN. Murl R ADAMS was born March 29, 1897 at Neligh to Charles and Esther SIMMONS BEER and died Friday, February 24, 1978 at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh. She attended schools in Antelope County, graduating from the Oakdale High School in 1915. On May 31, 1916 she was married to Enos ADAMS at the home of her parents in Oakdale. L they lived in and around the Neligh-Oakdale area all of their married life and were the parents of five children. They retired from the farm and moved to Neligh in 1945. She was a lifetime member of the WSCS and a member of the United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Survivors include her husband, Enos, one daughter, Mrs Melvin (Ruth) MARSH of Neligh, three sons, Gerald and Robert of Neligh and Melvin of Sidney, one sister, Mrs Vera EVANS of Oakdale, eleven grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Gene, a brother and her parents.
Rachel Catherine Adams, 1862-1911

Rachel Catherine ADAMS was born in Lauden County, Tennessee, April 30, 1862 and died in Oakale, December 19, 1911. She was married to F. L. STAULCUP in 1885 and to this union, three children were born, two sons, Robert and Charles surviving. She was married a second time to C. C. ADAMS in May 1894. To them were born five children; two sons, Oscar and Ansel and one daughter, Lena, still surviving. The family moved to Oakdale on January 16, 1909. The funeral services were conducted by the pastor of the Methodist Church on December 19, 1911 and interment was in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Abridged: William Levi ADAMS was born October 10, 1867 in Alexander County, Illinois and departed this life June 10, 1927. When a small boy he moved with his parents to Texas County, Missouri. There he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Sarah Jane KELLY August 10, 1893. To this union eight children were born, one child dying in infancy. Since 1900 Mr ADAMS has resided in or near Oakdale. Those who mourn his departure are his wife, seven children, father, three sisters and three brothers, besides many other relatives. The children are: Mrs William HUGHES, Enos, Lawrence, and Victor of Oakdale, Vern of Waterbury, NE, John of Sioux City, IA, and Clifford of Fort Crook, NE. The three sisters are Laura BRUMMET and Mrs Cynthia HALDEN of Mountain Grove, MO, Mrs Frenia RAGIN of Upton, MO, father, C. C. ADAMS of Oakdale, brothers, O. B. ADAMS of South Sioux City, NE, Calvin ADAMS of Graff, MO and J. F. ADAMS of Merino, CO, one half brother, Oscar and one half sister, Mrs ORR of Neligh. Funeral services were conducted at the United Brethren Church on June 13 and interment was made in the Oakdale Cemetery.
