Hans Eymann

Hans Eymann enlisted in the U S Naval Reserve in March 1942 and reported to active duty on April 6, 1942. He received training in California and volunteered for aviation radioman. He was assigned to Air Group V C 37 on the USS Sangamon. He left for the Pacific in October 1943 and saw action at Tarawa, Kwajalein, Eniwetock, Aitape Hollandia, Wakde, Saipan, Tinian, Pagan, Rota, Guam, Palau and the landing at Leyte Gulf. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was discharged on September 7, 1945. He married Lucile Hackett and they had five children. They farmed for 33 years and retired in 1980. |
