Lewis V. Evans, son of Lewis Evans and Rosa Long of Tilden, Nebraska, graduated from Tilden High School in 1931 and later became a construction worker.  He was inducted into the Army on May 22, 1942 and trained in Mississippi.  He was discharged from LaGarde General Hospital in Louisiana on June 8, 1943.  He married Inez M. Earing and the couple was in war defense work at Hastings, Nebraska and later moved to Washington.  While working for Blair Auto Service, he received gasoline burns and died on June 17, 1945.
