Leroy J. Elston

Son of Gordon and Maude Elston was born September 8, 1924 at Clearwater, Nebraska. He graduated from Clearwater High School in 1942. He joined the army on May 26, 1943. He sailed for England on November 15, 1944. On December 24, 1944 he went aboard the English ship, Leopoldville. On the morning of December 25, he was among the 798 men who were killed when the ship was torpedoed in the English Channel. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart.
