Edward M. Eischeid was inducted into the Army on July 24, 1942 and was assigned to the Army Air Force.  After basic training in Texas, he went to advanced training in California.  In 1943 he was assigned to the 362nd Fighter Squadron in California and then to Pocatello, Idaho before leaving for overseas.  He embarked on November 23, 1943 aboard the Queen Elizabeth arriving in Scotland.  His unit flew operations from 1944 till VE-Day.  He was discharged on November 5, 1945.  He and his wife, Arlene, live on a farm near Elgin and have four children.
