S. Clinton Dickerson entered the U S Army in December 1942.  He served for two years in the Southwest Pacific in New Guinea.  He received the Purple Heart Medal.  He contracted malaria, another jungle fever and jungle rot.  He was returned to the US to Winter General Hospital and was discharged in January 1945.
