Paul R. Dalton, son of Ira S. Dalton and Elsie Hamilton, was born March 26, 1920 at Neligh, Nebraska.  He was inducted into the Navy on February 24, 1942 and received training in California.  He served aboard the USS Pensacola until it was hit.  He and three shipmates were below deck and the shipmates were killed.  While home on furlough, Paul married Frances.  He was assigned to the USS Hazelwood, a destroyer.  Later he was transferred to the USS Neosho.  He served in the Southwest Pacific and returned home for discharged on September 27, 1945.  He went to college on the GI Bill and then taught school for 38 years.  He passed away at his home in Tobias, Nebraska on January 8, 1994.  They were the parents of three children.
