Norman joined the Naval Reserve in the spring of 1945 before he graduated. He went on active duty July 1945 and received boot camp training at the U S Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois. He was assigned as Ship's Company at the Naval Air Technical Training Center at Memphis, Tennessee working in communications. He was discharged from this facility on July 26, 1946, leaving the Navy and Naval Reserve. He made good use of his veterans benefit by attending the University of Nebraska, receiving his B S in 1951 and MS Degree in mathematics in 1955. He and his wife, Marilyn, have enjoyed the last 30 plus years in Brigham City, Utah where he is now retired from the computer programming business.
