Peter F. Zimmerman was born in Wisconsin. He came to Battle Creek, Nebraska in 1885
and entered the implement business. Peter married Wilhelmina Dinkel in 1888. They were the parents of eight children: Will, Charles, Joe, Esther, George,
Barbara, Laura, and Dorothy. In 1915
the family moved to a farm southwest of Orchard. Charles remained in Battle Creek. Peter died in 1919 and Wilhelmina in 1944. After Peter’s death, the farm continued to
operate under Joe’s management until 1972 when it was sold. Joe and Esther moved to Orchard where Joe
died in 1973 and Esther in 1983. Will
continued to work in insurance, George was employed in Orchard, Barbara
married Martin Helmricks and died in 1983; Laura and Dorothy taught rural
schools in Antelope County.
