GERALD JOHN ZEGERS was born on March 1, 1906 and moved from David City, Nebraska to Elgin with his parents in 1920. JULIA ELIZABETH DINSLAGE was born on January 18, 1908 and moved to Elgin with her parents from Aloys, Nebraska in 1916. Gerald and Julia were married on September 11, 1934. They were engaged in farming and rented the land they farmed until May 1948. Then they purchased a farm west and south of Elgin. Three children were raised on the farm: Gayle, 1936, married Judy Benda; Geraldine, 1937, married Wayne Childers; and Judith, 1946, married Jack Ortmeyer. Gerald and Julia moved into Elgin in 1968 to enjoy retirement. Gerald died on February 6, 1985.
