Charles M. Wyman, son of Parker Wyman and Lydia Byard, was
born in Peru, Vermont, March 24, 1832. He married Adeline J. Smith, daughter of Jacob and Roxane Smith, on
April 4, 1853. On August 4, 1861,
Charles enlisted in Company E, 5th Regiment of the Vermont
Infantry, and served until February 4, 1862. He was discharged because of a lung ailment, thought to be T B. He
returned to Vermont where he was in business as a teamster. In 1869, the family moved to
Nebraska. Charles joined the
neighbors on June 1, 1869, to fight Indians who were stealing horses and had
burned the barn on the Contois place south of the Wyman farm. Charles took a tree claim in Keyapaha
County, near Carnes, where he lived for three years before returning to Clearwater. He passed away on March 27, 1898. Adeline died December 17, 1909. They were the parents of seven children: Morrill who married Mary Douglas; Lemmuel,
whose wife’s name was Jennie; Lydia who married Charles Sailor; Lucinda who
married a Mr Hills; Aaron who married Mollie McCracken, and Laura who married
Wilk Norwood. Ella was one of the
first teachers in Frenchtown township. Aaron and Mollie were married on March 9, 1896 at Carnes. Mollie was born at Imogene, Iowa, on
January 28, 1875. Her father had come
from Ireland. They were the parents
of seven children: Orpha Edith, Eva
Doris, Andrew Dale, Clifford Marshall, Zella Fern, Leona Blanche and Dorothy
Juanita. Aaron died on June 28, 1927
and Mollie on July 11, 1931.
