Roy Egbert Winder, son of Egbert Winder and Minnie Ives,
was born July 30, 1885. He had two
brothers and one sister. His boyhood
was spent on ranches and farms in Antelope County. He married Christena Thompson on July 23, 1909 and they lived
in the Atkinson area for several years. They returned to Antelope County and settled west of Tilden where they
operated a chicken hatchery. Roy
started operation of a dairy farm in the late 1920’s. They were the parents of three sons,
Harold, George, and Bruce. Harold
married LaVern Walters. Harold was a
career Navy man. George married Alice
Stemple. Bruce, served in the U S
Army for two years, farmed on the family place. He married Lucille Sharples and they had two children. Bruce died in 1970. Roy passed away in 1964 and Christena in
1984.
