George Weaver Wiltshire and Elizabeth Jane King were married
March 25, 1872. They were the parents
of six children: Temperance Jane,
Dollie, George, Susie, Matilda and Daisy. George died at a young age. They came from Lebanon, Indiana in 1879 and located on a
homestead. They lived in a dugout
until a sod house could be built. Elizabeth’s father, Samuel King had come with them. While George and Samuel were away working
on the railroad, Elizabeth was left to take care of the homestead. She ran out of supplies and had to walk a
round trip distance of about 60 miles to Neligh for them. The children went to school at Park
Center.
