LAWRENCE THEODORE WIEHN was born on a farm southwest of Elgin to Dan Wiehn and Jennie Lampman on December 3, 1913. He attended rural school and St Boniface Grade School. He was the oldest of six children. As a young man he assisted his father with farming and also worked for other farmers. Leona Agnes Deitering was born on a farm west of Elgin to Bernard Deitering and Caroline Lutmer on September 18, 1913. She was the second youngest of a family of 11 children. She attended St Boniface schools and graduated from Elgin High School in 1932. Lawrence and Leona were married June 27, 1939 in Elgin. They farmed in the Elgin area until 1976 when they moved to their home in Elgin and retired. They had two children, Janet and Dennis. Lawrence and Leona have 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
